Worried What are *.dsm and *.rgu files?

I notice that, under \windows of my x51v, there are tens of files that did not exist. They are *.dsm and *.rgu files, such as ae879543-c73e-4888-812b-d8177c404612.dsm and ae879543-c73e-4888-812b-d8177c404612.rgu.

Does soemone know what they are? What programs create them? Can they be safely removed?

Thanks.

For information on the *.dsm files, visit here http://www.liutilities.com/products/...ary/files/DSM/ to see if it is of any help. It says that they are " DSM is the file extension for music modules associated with MOD, DSI and DSIK", but that is about all I could find.

As for *.rgu files, it seems that they have to do with data recovery software. So I am guessing that the .dsm files might be safe to remove if they are taking up significant space, but I would leave the .rgu files alone. They might be quite important.

If someone else has any more information about these, please post.

Never heard WinBackup before.

As I have not installed/run any backup program on my x51v, they may come from different sources. Thanks for your help.

The *.rgu files contain registry information. Do not mess with them!

I have no idea what the *.dsm files are.

There are 49 .dsm files and 27 .rgu files. Most of them are in pair. A lot of these files show that they were created/modified on 14/11/2005 - 6 weeks before I had my x51v.
