Well, if you are a x50v user, and have also paid the license fees for both operating systems, you can, IMHO, rightfully switch the BT stacks.

As for deleting this thread: then, all threaads should be deleted that make, for example, x50v WM5/WM2003SE ROM images available (that IS illegal - this isn't if you have indeed paid the license fees for both OS'es). There're plenty of them - some of them are even sticky ;)

I am always encouraging developments such as these. I'm always grateful and this community is so cool because there are skilled people who does that. XDA Developers have more but they dont work on Dells =(. We can be one big happy HTC family!

Sorry, I think I was a little over-sensitive. It's just that the thread about that was deleted by the moderator and I don't want anything happen this this wonderful thread. I hope that you'll find a way to replace the horrible MS stack eventually.
:approve:

Thanks!!

BTW, isn't following the steps to disable MS stack?
Found in this while ago in the thread that was deleted.

Quote:
1. Remove BTIcon.lnk found in the
Code:

WindowsStartup

2. Remove the Registry Entry "Driver" in
Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftBluetoothTransp ortsBuiltIn3]

3. Create a Registry Entry
Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEControlPanelBluetooth]
"Redirect"=""

4. Change the Value of "ScanMode" to 5 or 7 found in
Code:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftBluetoothSetting s]

5. Soft Reset
edit: Also found this:
Quote:
after puting all that into /windows .RUN the file "Platform.reg" on your pocket pc ..or else the program will not recognise your bluetooth device ..
Maybe it will work with x51v/x50v too?

Seems to me this would be an awesome opportunity for Widcomm, if they could find a way to package their Bluetooth drivers for the Axim X50 and X51 under WM5. I think many of us would pay for that.
Of course, it could end up being a support nightmare for them too...

It would be very nice to have a Widcomm bluetooth manager with the X51

as compared to the pathetic bluetooth service manager of the X51

Thanks for the tip; I'll keep my eyes open so that I can possibly extract the WM5 Widcomm stack from their ROM images.

Anyone with an n31x here wanting to export a ROM dump? ;)

Yup, will extract the WM5 files today, as soon as I manage to collect all the required, references Perl libraries for rdmsflsh.pl (see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...gename=DumpRom ).

Good Luck man! I'm going to give this a crack as well... It'd be really great if you (and the others who're mad enough to "take the challenge"!) can keep this thread alive and updated. This way we can start to share knowledge and what we're tried so not duplicate effort. I'll post my findings / thoughts as soon as I have more - which maybe Friday...

I wanna try my hand with the old switcheroo trick. Where can I download DumpRom? I can't find it on the XDA site.
