I wonder if a Dell tech started this thread to try and stop calls going into them for putting out such a lousy product on the market without fixing the issues beforehand. Look at him, he's got 12 posts!!

The correct point is this it does not matter who built the product the issue here is who is selling the product to the public. The company selling the product is the one who specified the configuration and specifications. It is up to the selling company to make things right with their customers, and at the same time to ensure that the company that is supplying the parts to them (the selling company) is meeting the required specifications.

The point is that it is Dell, who is responsible to their customers for products that they sell. And at the same time it is Dell that is responsible to see that the product that they purchase for resell and put their name on meets the specification that is set forth in their contract with their vendors and also the contract that they have with their customers.
How much clearer can I make it?
Also the number of post means nothing. All that it means is that you have more time on you hands.

So lets take something completely different. I buy a car from Toyota. Their muffler is made by some company in China. My muffler has a fault. I don't call Toyota? I need to find the company that made the part that is broken and call them directly and hope they speak English and can deliver me a new muffler so that I can install it myself? That is the most retarted Logic ever.

I DON'T care who makes the device. From all the branding IT IS A DELL Device. I'm not going to try and figure out who makes it. I'm not gonna find some company in Taiwan and call them to fix a device they OEMed to another company. It doesn't work that way.

Once again, the point is being missed. No one has said that you're going to have to go to HTC for support, or to anyone else EXCEPT Dell! The point being made is that perhaps Dell is not able to provide any real answers at the moment because they may not have any. Yes Dell is responsible, Yes Dell should be doing *something*......but the point is, that perhaps they just don't have any information right now to pass along. Perhaps they're just as frustrated as we are. No one knows for sure what's going on with WM5 except Dell employees.

I do agree with you that HTC could be part of the problem but given the purchasing power Dell must have with HTC (didn't they make the X3 series for them as well?) I'm sure HTC will listen to them, also the HTC phone I have which runs WM5 works fine, so they must understand the software. As Dell specified the design I suspect they will have specified (or at least signed off) the reduced bluetooth stack and some of other things causing problems.

If HTC are causing this problem then somewhere in Dells contract management department heads should be rolling.

FWIW I'm still hoping they are working flat out on integrating AKU2 into the next ROM. Many of the big corporates (just one of whoms annual spend with Dell probably counts for more than ALL of us together) must be hounding them for push e-mail, so maybe we'll get a nice surprise soon
