The soultion of headers only, with include to certain size seems to work for keeping old messages, except:
If the messages exceeds the size of what you set it to include.
For Example, if you set it 25Kb and the message size is 10kB, it will keep the message. If you set it to 25Kb and the message is 26 Kb, it goes bye-bye.
This seemed to be my scenerio, all though it could not be true and some other factor such as the make of the acutal message is effecting it. Please report your findings!
Well, after about a half dozen test messages and several different methods of making it check email (manual send/receive, waiting on autocheck, etc) I am forced to conclude that it actually, sorta kinda, works! No more disappearing emails. I'm just gonna set my message size limit really high and fuggedabowdit. Thanks for the tips all!

are you absolutely...positively this time ??? :D
...Just think of it this way ... the glass is 2/3 full instead of it being empty before :p
yeah ... recommend settings the size allowed to be really high just to cover all the bases. ( you do have the option of "store attachments on storage card" ;)

it is shown as KB (KBytes)
I figured with the extra room we all have ...why not give it 999KB ( almost a Meg ) ...that's small change for it to solved the problem of disappearing mails, don't you think ?? :p

Wouldn't that actually be kB?
Edit: Wikipedia says it is done both ways, but ya, Kb was wrong, that would be bits
I figure I'll bump this thread since I had this problem with gmail POP3 and found that this solution worked for me. Before finding this thread, I had improvised by copying the mail to another folder. It was a pain because if I forgot to do that before I hit the send/receive button, all I could do was scream in silence as I watched my mail disappear from my inbox :realmad:
This is my first post and I would like to say how much I appreciate Aximsite. I've had my Axim for 6 months now, and it would have been a nightmare to solve all the problems that I had encountered without this site. With the help of you guys, my Axim is an amazing portable multimedia device
I've added stuff in myPDA. Hopefully, it'll be useful for newbies such as myself to check out.

when you get to the screen #4 (server information) ...click "options"...within this option, there will be 3 screens to follow.
at the last screen(#3/3 )..instead of selecting "get full copy of messages" ...make sure you select "get message headers only" ...now ..the part below that related to message body ...put a checkmark there & enter in a large amount if you wish ..etc ..for me I put 25k & that's plenty !
and now ...when you subsequently send/receive ...old mails will remain ...
if you find that the body doesn't hold enough info for your particular need ...go back & adjust the number of KB allowed for message body.
I have a problem with my Gmail setting, but it's not just gmail. I noticed that when i do a hard reset, my inbox once restored does not access the info. How do i delete that information and start another pop connection?
For example. I've set up a gmail connection. It did not work, i did a hard reset. And when i try to set up a connection it tells me enter a new name because the one i entered already exists, but i don't see it in my account folder nor does it update itself.
Any idea as to how to clear those settings in inbox that don't show up.
I believe if i do a hard reset and not back up inbox info prior to the hardrest it might work. But i don't want to have to reinstall everything. So if i can get some input as to how to delete those email setups that the backup saves it'll help out a lot.
when I want to forward gmails, the address book used is my ppc contacts, not my gmail address book. how can I get to the gmail address book? they differ because I use gmail for personal and the contact list is mostly work. I am too lazy to keep them in sync-it is not easy.
