Windows Mobile® 5.0.2.0

I found this on the Palm Treo 700w specs sheet.
Is this a newer verson of WM5?
Could this be a sign of a new version of the Axims?

Found it here:
http://www.palm.com/us/products/smar...700w/specs.epl

If this has already been posted, sorry.

my X51V about screen said:

Windows Mobile 5.0
OS 5.1.70 ( build 14402.1.1.0 )
and that's because I still running A04 ( no need to up to A06 since it isn't broken )

~~~~~
A06 will read like so:
Rom Version: A06 (12190500)
Windows Mobile 5.0
OS 5.1.70 (Build 14410.1.1.3)
5.1.70 is NEWER then 5.0.2.0
maybe in the SMARTPHONE world it is new ...but not with PPC ;)
why don't you check your version and see ?? :p
The 700w is not a smartphone. It is a PPC and runs the WM 5 Phone Edition.
There's a Windows Mobile, Windows Mobile Phone Edition, and Windows Mobile Smartphone (or something like that). The Smartphone version is smaller and lighter weight than the other edition, because they're meant for phone form factor products (as in, devices that actually look like cellphones). They're also optimized for cellphone navigation buttons and keys and such, as opposed to a touchscreen.
The Treo, IMHO, is a PocketPC Phone Edition which is "smarter" than a Smartphone.
FYI, there are three seperate and distinct versions of Windows Mobile.
WM for PPC - Devices like the Dell Axim X50 series
WM for PPC Phone Edition - Devices like the Treo 700w and the Cingular 8125 (PPC's that have phone capability)
WM for Smartphone - Devices like the Motorola MPx220 and the Cingular 2125. Devices that are primarily a phone and do not have a touch screen.
Since this thread was about the version of Windows Mobile, my statement is entirely correct that the 700w is not a smartphone device, but a PPC.
If you would like to learn the differences between a smartphone and a PPC, take a look at www.smartphonethoughts.com and www.howardforums.com. They know a little more about it then CNN.
Thank you kltye for your correct explanation.
Alhtough I don't have a PocketPC Phone Edition based device, I do have a an Axim X51v and a QTEK 8310 Smartphone.
I can confirm that:
Axim X51v is version 5.1.70 (Build 14406.1.1.3) (A06 Rom)
Qtek 8310 is version 5.1.70 (Build 14406.1.1.1)
They seem to be slightly different minor build differences, but the major build seems to be consistent between the two devices.
This would lead me to believe that the builds for the three different types of devices, PocketPC, PocketPC Phone, and Smartphone, remain relatively the same build stream.
However, this all depends on the hardware device manufacturers and what verions they release on the devices.
