Do I need to do the "Active Sync" Fix stickeyed on this forum with a brand new x51v?

Yes you should do it. Unless your unit came with A07 or higher :)

What are these A0#s? And how do I know which my unit has?

It's the operating system software version.
Tap start, settings, system, system information.
It's probably A04 or A06.
A06 is the latest so far

If A07 comes out, will the current fix create a problem or render A07 useless when it is installed?

The fix just turns off the scheduled ActiveSync, shouldn't affect anything, though installing A07 would wipe out the fix anyway, as it replaces the operating system.
