Magicbutton causing major slow down.

Hey guys,

Either I am absolutely insane or I have solved all my issues with major lag in WM5 on my x50v.

I installed the new vbar that came out and got rid of Magicbutton. I no longer have any stability issues or lag. The difference is noticable as soon as I close magicbutton.

Can anyone verify I am not crazy?

I can't tell anything for WM5 but I am using magic buttons with WM2003se x50v and it is lightning fast after wisbar advanced. I can't imagine how much faster it could be :)

Magic Button for WM5 isn't the most stable tool out there. I noticed the following issues with it on an A06 build:
1) It sometimes gets confused when I open the games folder - whereupon it will keep that start folder open
2) At other times, it just outright disappears
3) It tends to suppress reminder notices when another app is on the foreground - and you can never see what the notice is - but you will hear it chime.

This happens once a week, so I live with it because it is SOOOOOO much better than the app manager tool that shipped with the Axim.

Yeah, i've had those issues also.

I think people think its lightning fast..anything is when compared to wisbar.

I like magicbutton better than vbar..but vbar is more stable and like i said, seems to make system run better. Not sure what magicbutton does that creates the opposite effect.

There is an update to vbar that came out yesterday. It fixed the problem in WM5 that made the running programs overlap, and it now gives you the option to minimize instead of close an application (you can tap and hold to close, tap to minimize). It works awesome, now I like it better than Magic Button!

I have gone from wisbar to vbar. I like its speedier interface, although it doesnt look as nice.

Holy cow! Just switched to Vbar from Magicbutton and it is much much faster.

Plus now I get a battery and memory indicator!

And its all FREE!!

Still trying to figure out how to get the background color to match with the system bars though.

AS soon as I installed vbar and selected it to show the battery and mem it caused my x50v wm5 to have issues. seems like anythign with battery monitor causes a problem with wm5. back to MB and all is ok again. Had to actually uninstall vbar to get back to normal.

Soft reset, that should fix the color problem.
Also, if you are having problems with the battery indicators in WM5, you can disable them in vbar's settings page.

How is vBar vs. Magic Button? I have been using Magic Button, but sometimes I have problems. Some programs lock up with it completely. I have to soft reset to get anything to work. When it locks up I can't tap anywhere nor do any of the buttons work. Very annoying and very inconvenient. When I'm doing something where I can't afford to have to reset, I just close it. Anyway, back to my question, any vBar vs. MB comparisons? I've thought about trying vBar but never have. BTW, I'm running an X51 mid with Pocket Breeze, iLauncher, and Magic Button.

Do you have "Use system background" checked in the settings dialog?

The thing I liked better about MB is the Home page icon on the top. couldn't figure out how to do that with vbar and I use that a lot.

Bigdave, unless you have changed the icons on your start menu it should be Start -> Today and you are back at the front screen.
