there is a slight difference in contrast. The x51v has more contrast i.e richer colors... i prefer it actually but there really is no difference in all honesty :P

oh the x51v is slightly heavier too

I agree... I think the colors are somewhat better on the x51v. There is a slight blue hue to the screen, but nothing I would deem unusually noticeable. Matter of fact I never noticed until it was mentioned.

Dammit, now its going to bug me until the day I sell it LOL

The x50v and x51v have a 3.7 inch vga display. The x50 and x51 have a 3.5 inch display.

Loading up the same movie on the x50v and x51v I did notice a slight difference but when I loaded a different movie on each device I couldn't tell the difference so some colors would seem to be better suited on the x51v but for the most part
Then again I should have placed a label over the units to make it more of a unbiased test as I do prefer my x51 unit :)

I think it may indeed be various manufacturing imperfections which cause various degrees of blue hues. Mine seems perfectly white - I mean, my Inspiron 600m's screen is no great comparison point, but my Vaio U50, which has the best screen I have ever seen, seems almost identical to my X51v. The pixels are slightly denser on my U50 (I can't see the individual pixels even if I look really, really close - that's pretty damn dense, whereas on my X51 I can just about see them if I look closely), but the screens still seem identical displaying the same colors.

I have both and imo the difference is negligible. almost impossibe to notice unless you're comparing them right next to each other.

I have both
my X51v looks more "pure" white, not blueish like X30
personally, I like X51v screen better
both visibility are similar outdoors

Is my x51v defective? Help!

I find the bluish tint of the x51v a lot more pleasant than the yellowish tint of other pocketPCs, namely my old Axim X5
