Screen differences between x50v and x51v

Has anyone compared the screens of an x50v with an x51v? I'm looking at both devices, and the x50v looks MUCH better. The x51 seems to have a blueish tint to everything and is not as clear. This isn't a "stare for an hour and you might notice", it is something you see immediately when you place the two side by side.

Is my x51v defective? Help!

what apps are you looking at? I just opened up Word and Windows Explorer adn they do have a blueish color on the right hand side. However, when I went to search, it is white. I think it is the theme that affects the color. What do you think?

I'm comparing the overall bias on the screen. If I go to 'Programs' on each device, one (x50v) has a pure white background, and the other (x51v) has a aqua-blue tint. It isn't as obvious unless you have both devices side-by-side. I'll try and post a picture later if I can get shot that accurately shows it.

Same software installed, settings and backgroung. Tweaking may be needed in WM5 to fix this.

The x51v indeed has a slightly (!) blueish screen, especially compared to the "warm"/"yellowish" hx4700 / Pocket Loox 720 or the "neutral" 2.8" screen of the HTC Magician / HTC Wizard. It's, on the other hand, not THAT bad - I've seen much worse screens (for example, that of the iPAQ 2210).

Individual screens, however, may be more bluish than the rest of the screens (as is the case with other PDA models). This may be the case with your PDA too.

hmm i have not noticed a difference between the 2 but i also never thought to compare them side by side.

i'm going to power my x50v up, compare the 2 and post back. My x50v is running WM5 btw

also i was thinking of rolling the x50v back to 2003SE and compare the battery life between the 2.

If you can compare the two it would be much appreciated. I'm just trying to see if its worth asking for another unit.

The screen on the X51v look nice. I have to turn on contrast full. Its like looking at a piece of paper. Very clear.

ok powered my wm5 x50v and wow is it slow. unreal actually.

If the x51v screen does have a blue tint. it verges on the unnoticeable. i would say the all colors on the x51v are more 'defined'. i noticed more blue in the windows environment but when i tested out full screen apps like Zelda III on pocket snes and Video on tcpmp i noticed it far less if at all.

I have had several iPAQS and know the yellow tint all too well… these screens are both very good especially when I put an older iPAQ in the mix.

I can post a photo in a few hours to demonstrate.

That's what I'm seeing. It looks like the screens have a different color temperature. I can live with it, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a defect.

:exc: I talked to Dell L2 support, and confirmed that the screens are different. The x51v screen is supposed to be more visible in sunlight. I'll have to check that out.

Noob question here....

Are they the same size?

I need to know for ordering a screen protector...I found one for x50v. Will it fit the x51? I figure it must, but want to be sure.

Thanks!

Thanks for providing the pics, Blutrane!
I don't see any significant differences. It seems somewhat far fetched to make this an issue?
