Question New to Dell PDA's or PDA's in General Please Help?

Hi everyone I am embarrassed to ask but I am so sure you guys are so much smarter then me on this one. Okey for the most part I got everything set up. Although for some reason my laptop wont sync with my PDA but thats not a major issue I may just unistall and reinstall the software cause I think I had the PDA on when I plugged it in if that makes a difference.

Also: Big Problem:

I cant seem for the life of me to get on the internet with the PDA....Sorry but this Windows Mobile is something really new. I know I need to read the book...LOL :rolling: but is there any quick tips.......Is there something else I need to connect. I joined MSN for God sake just to make it easier and it didnt it keeps saying...not connecting for unknown reason????? So am I missing something? Also I no nothing about modems.....I am so used to my own DSL at home I use with my laptop. I didnt think I could use this my DSL program on my PDA but if this is an option I am curious? They keep asking for username, password, domain......but in setup it doesnt give the option for DSL. My guess is though since DSL runs through phone lines this one isnt an option..

Sorry one more question:

Any other internet providers cheap ones to set up with the Dell Axim 51.? Recommended ones..Like I said I have a 3 month Free trial but I may not keep this I am unsure still??

Okey so to some up my babble:

1.Is there any devices I need to connect online with PDA and search the net on interent explorer. My guess is it is the same as regular interent surfing.

2. What am I doing wrong in syncing. I am pretty sure I have everything right, in the cradle, hooked to computer and running software.....keeps saying connecting but wont do anyting but keep saying....connecting.

3. Is there anywhere I can go for help with this stuff? I assume Bestbuy wouldnt help since they dont sell Dell.. :rolling: Or any online programs I tried microsoftmobile.com and I am still lost.

4. Any cheaper place to get Microsoft mobile internet access that is compatible with this Dell Axim 51? I signed up for 3 month trial MSN thought it would make this easier but...lol...still lost?

Excuse me for being an idiot at this but I bought a complicated PDA for my first time...LOL and I quit smoking this week and I am a complete basketcase...well not now but I did almost cave yesterday trying to set this dang thing up

Thank you so much for your help....I am so thankful to have found this forum. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to offer some help.

Appreciate it.
Sorry so long.

Mel

Thank you very much for the links.. :)

What is Orange Plan?

I will be doing some reading. I went to bestbuy and they told me I needed a wireless router in my home. Otherwise I should be able to use it out of the home since Wi fi is already installed. The bluetooth I will have to read but I understand something like wireless syncing or something. Still a little confused. My buddy is coming over to help me set up the router. Hopefully I get my DSL service to work on it but I dont think I will when I am out and about. Will either keep the MSN or check out that Orange Plan?

Thanks for your help. Cant believe I wanted to break down and cry cause I am so clueless on this new technology. Just when I got used to the interent and to some of windows features they add all this wireless stuff. But I do know one thing I spent way too much money not to get all the benefits out of this thing. It was on sale but still 400 bucks ouch that is 1/3 of what my laptop cost??

Mel :)

I checked the disc that came with the dell axim v51 and it states it is 4.1...but i will uninstall and try it again. Maybe all this wireless stuff has to be set up first.

Hehe did I mention bestbuy would come set all this up for me but it is 159.00 bucks I dont know about you but I spent enough on this stuff...LOL

ok few things:
forget the Orange plan, if you don't live in Europe.

there are three options to connect your Axim to the internet:
1. using your PC as "pass through" - when the axim is connected with the craddle (or other usb cable) to the PC it uses your home modem to reach the net. the string is Axim>PC>modem
2. using the Wifi by connecting to the availible hotspot (what is?) in the area (where? ).As you noticed you have a built in WiFi antenna and connecting software. the string is: Axim>access point>web
3. Using a Bluetooth (what is?) enabled phone as a modem. Axim and the phone are paired and then the Ax is connecting to the phone , the phone is connecting to the cellular network by the "data" connection (you will need to talk to your provider of course to open/enable the data service)

! Note that the new Active Sync (v4.0 and v4.1) is not allowing to sync wirelessly , i.e through WiFi
