Stop programs from running.

Hi guys. I just got the Axim x51v in on Tuesday and have been messing around with it. Well after opening up a few programs, and a day later, the axim was real sluggish. So I checked the memory setting and I looked at the programs running and.... it says that I still had all these programs running even tho I had shut them off. So I had to manually stop all of them. How do you REALLY shut down a program in WM5?
Thanks.

Didnt you read the tutorial here? Closing the program doesnt mean its gone. WM5 is weird. I use Switcher Bar to truely close the program.

I read some, but couldn't find anything...unless I'm just missing it. I'll go thru them again.
Thanks.

Not all the responses explain this well, so I hope this helps. When you close a program, or hit the "X", it actually just minimizes the program (this is true to WM2003, WM2003SE, WM5, etc.).

There are a few ways that you can close the programs (and thus keeping them from using up system resources and slowing down your axim):

-Use the Dell Switcher Bar (enable this under Starts/Settings/System (icon show up in the top middle). This tool allows you to switch between already opened programs (kind of like the task bar on the bottom of windows, to close certain programs, or all). Sometimes though, Switcher Bar will mess up and won't show the running programs (I don't know why, and haven't found a fix). You can also reach brightness and power settings from the icon.

-Go to Starts/Settings/System/ and tap Memory. From there go to Running Programs, and you can stop some or all of the running programs.

-Finally, as has been suggested above, you can use an aftermarket program such as Magicbutton (just google it). It's a free task manager.

I hope this will help and be an easy solution for you.
