Control pda with IR remote?

The IR sensor on the axim is two-way, so is there a way to send a command to the axim using a regular infrared remote control? I have my pda set up to play internet radio and it would be nice if I could point a remote to it and make it do things like turn off or change channels.

You would need a specific software to interpret the command send via the remote. I don't think this would happen on its own.

Yes, I'm looking for that type of software or at least a music player that supports IR. I suppose they haven't ported girder to pocketpc...

Hmm, maybe I'll look into keyboards that connect to the pocketpc over IR and see if that signal can be cloned by a learning remote.

I used UltraMote. It replaced all my 6 remode controls.

Check out www.ultramote.com. You do not need to buy the extender from them. X51V IR range is pretty good. I can control all my home entertainment systems (dvd, tv, cable box, etc) from at least 25 ft. away.

You can "teach" your X51V to program most of the remode controls used at home.

Hope this what you're looking for.

yeah it would be nice if you could make a remote to contorl the axim, i have all my music on it, and would love to hook it to my home theater system. I acctualy have a learning remote, so that should help if someone ever makes the program. If somebody ever makes it, they should set the program where it uses the codes of a common brand cd player or vcr or such, but make which one selectable, so taht most any cheap universal remote could be programed to work.

All we need is for someone with the Thinkoutside IR Stowaway keyboard to record all the IR codes using some sort of learning remote software. Then after we program our remotes with the same codes, we just have to load the Thinkoutside driver from their website.

If you installed the think oustide ir keyboard driver, which is free off their site, then got a remote that could imitate buttons on this keyboard, you could control your axim with that remote. In wmp you can even customize buttons

The HIP software should easily be able to copy remote codes from the Ir keyboard.

I only have a bluetooth one...

The HIP software can be found here..

This is a truly brilliant idea... can someone actually do the recording of keystrokes?

I wouldnt mind recording the keystrokes from my think outside ir keyboard. This software you have the link to is for windows though. I dont have any ir ports on my windows pc. What i need is software that runs on the pocket pc and can still record the signals. I want to see this happen. If anybody knows of software that can do this on the ppc, please tell me.

I am going to use this remote learning app to record signals. Ive used it before, and you can see the code every time it records. The only problem i have is, is it the right code for your learning remotes?
