Sleep Media Player Fullscreen headache

Just got my X51v a few days ago, and every time i try to go full-screen on a video that's 640x480 or close to it, it will completely freeze up with a black screen... if i set it to 'play fullscreen when oversized' it will sometimes work, but you can't easily go in between normal and fullscreen without a 75% chance of the thing just crashing...

Here's a small sample of the video clip that's having the problems... http://www.adam.com.au/kellyjones/temp/vgasample.wmv i've tried encoding it in various ways, altering the keyframe interval, buffer size, bitrate, using WMV8, WMV9 etc... only lowering the resolution works... if i encode it at 320x240, there's no problem at all, but that is not the point of having a VGA PPC anyway... plus the subtitles are not as easy to read then.

Can someone else with an X51v or an X50V + WM2005 test out this file? basically, play it for a few seconds then press the full screen button... for me, it always crashes when i do that... i'm wondering if it's a bug in all the Axim X51s or something wrong with my graphics chip.

i have TCPMP, it's better suited to DivX, but it does not quite achieve 100% framerate in fullscreen like Win Media Player does (when it works)

Edit: after downloading the latest TCPMP, i've found that it plays DivX just as good as WMP10 plays WMV... from a forum search i also see that it's not just me that has these problems. Still, it would be interesting to see whether fullscreen is an issue for ALL axim X51v or just some of them, so please post your result if you test the file.

Soultion!!!

Hi, I think I found the solution...FINALLY!!! :approve: I've been having the same problems and couldn't figure out why...until now!

OK, some say you need a small framerate of around 15 fps. This is not true. I have it working perfectly at 30 fps. Also, some say you need a small bitrate like 133 kbps. Also not true. I have a full DVD compressed at 30 fps & 425 kbps! Yes, and it's now working perfectly on Windows Media 10 on full screen and no problems anymore!

OK, you all want the solution so here it is: :)

- Open Windows Media.
- tap on "menu" at bottom right screen.
- tap on "options"
- at the bottom is a few sections. Tap on "video"
- Where it asks "Play video in full screen" choose "only when oversized" and uncheck the "scale to fit window" box.
- tap "ok" on top right screen.

That's it! Now open a file and if it's big enough, it should open in full screen mode...And not FREEZE!!! Plus, you can tap the screen while it's playing and it'll switch to window mode and not glitch or freeze. This has now solved my freezing video problems when going to full screen and hopefully it works for you too. Good luck!
