It worked for me and it never happened again. Just to make sure, I'd check for following:

1st, use Memaid to open the notification queue and run a "find duplicate". Delete anything that pops up.

2nd, go through the list and make sure there is no strange or blank queues.
Delete any queue that's set for a strange time period, for example, I had a queue that's schedule in Jan, 2017. Go through each queue and read the description and make sure you don't delete any system queues. (things like CALNOT.exe, CALENDAR.exe, \windows\calupd.exe, and anything started with \\.\Notifications\... are system queues and you should touch any of those)

Also, under the sound for notification - alarm setting, make sure the "repeat" is not checked. This will prevent the LED from flashing.

Again, do a full backup before you do that and just incase you make a mistake.

Thanks! this worked for me too..

I had to go through and delete some alarms that were scheduled to sound earlier in the day and yesterday. But after that they came back.

Hi all,

I'm still struggling with this. I've used Memmaid to clean out all 'strange' entries in the notification queue; the duplicate entries are gone too. The only ones which are left are like CALNOT.exe, CALENDAR.exe, \windows\calupd.exe etc.

I have also read many warnings about not deleting these. However, there is something strange about some of these. In memmaid, all are ordened according to date; the latest are on top of the list. The list starts in the past however; several Calendar.exe entries are for events that are already weeks ago!
(the description below gives you both some text - your own subject entry - and some numbers, parts of which tell you the date & time of the event).

Does anyone have a clue whether it is safe to delete *these* ?

Thanks!
Bart

hi Bart,

Can you post the exact message says in the description for that particular Calendar event?

the CALENDAR.EXE is for the appointment, tasks, etc. If it has an entry that's made by you and some date on it then it should be safe to delete in general. Also make sure that event doesn't have any recurrence on it. (e.g some one's birthday) If you have Breeze Contact installed then mostlikly it will add that event in there.

If possible, do a sync to backup all the PIM, then remove all the appointment/task from your PDA, do a soft-reset and then try set up a task and have the reminder go off in 1 minute and see if that will work.

Hello,

the exact entry in MemMaid is:
CALENDAR.EXE
and below the line is the 'description':
POOM: 1073741860 2006 1 14 15 0 2006 1 14
17 30
Brainstorm

Now, I recognize most of it as an actual appointment I entered myself. The 2006 1 14 15 0 2006 1 14 17 30 translates to january 14th, 2006, from 1500-1730. "Brainstorm" is the subject I entered. The POOM and the large number are a complete mystery to me.

What you say about birthdays is interesting. Some of the strange CALENDAR.EXE items are indeed reoccuring events like birthdays; however, all of these ALSO have an entry in 2007.

This seems logical: as a reoccuring event like a birthday comes by, the AXIM should generate a new event in the notification queue exactly one year later, but ALSO remove the event from today. It seems some of these events are not removed from the notification queue, for unknown reasons.

I'll try to backup and remove them manually.

Thanks!
Bart

PS: No Breeze Contact installed

Ok,

that was an easy one. Backup the data, and delete all CALENDAR.EXE items that have a date field in the past.

And it works :) :) I tried with a test appointment, and YES, a notification popped up. :celebrate

Conclusion: the notification queue MAY NOT contain any items with a date in the past. Sounds logical though ;) This messes up the (well, at least MY) Axim. The only question left is: how did they get there in the first place, why weren't they removed ?!

Thanks agains for all the help!

OK, Here's something interesting to add to the list... :)

Bart, followed your instructions and removed all PAST calendar notifications.

Silv, deleted dups from memmaid and removed blanks. Didn't touch anything else

Did a soft reset, and the dups are back in MemMaid! (All 98 of 'em!)

Hmm,

over the past few weeks, I removed duplicates several times. They kept reappearing, so I guess it's something that I consider 'maintenance'. However, I do have the feeling that the number decreased (on average....)

Another observation / hypothesis : every soft reset creates a 'blank' entry. At least, that is what I observed when I still had the 'past' apointments in the queue. I just kept on deleting these.

So, to me it seems that:
- It's safe to delete strange entries (Duplicate, from the past, or empty)
- The notifications work (again) when the queue has been cleaned accordingly
- for some unknown reason the queue gets all messed up again.

Now, if anyone can find out WHY this happens.....

Some times the notification doesn't work is because the system some how got stuck on an old queue. Not sure why this happens but could be one of the WM5 bug?

Reset should not create any blank entry. After I've fixed mine the 1st time I've never encountered another duplicate or blank ones. I suspect this has to do with your physical appointment/task entry. There might be a conflict that's causing all these. After reset the PAD I guess it will recreat queue list based on your appointments. (for the ones that you set reminders for)

Also, a good practice is to clean out some tasks/appointment right after they are completed. You can do it once a week or so. Though you shouldn't require to do this but just incase since WM5 is still buggy.

Thanks for your post, I should have searched before messing with SPB & Pocket Breeze thinking something happened in a setting, but your fix was the fix.

Shows the importances of using the SEARCH feature on Aximsite.

Problem: Only the appointment and task notification not working.

I was just browsing the site and found lots of people having this problem so I figured I'd test it out (i've never used this function before) To my surprise, it doesn't work. I've enabled all the sound, notification and LED flash under setting. Set up different tasks and appointments and I don't get any sound and popups. I've tried the reset sound level, changing alarm sound clips and none of those helped. Just want to mention, all other notification works (wifi, activesync, etc)

Solution:
I remember under memmaid there is a section for notification queue and I figured to see what's going on.

First, in the queue list, I've found 7 duplicat entries. (may be these are the ones that I set up for testing and never activated even the time has past) I removed all those.

Second, I also see some notifications (7 of them) labled as "task" but the due day is on Jan. 01 /4017 !!! I've no idea how that got in there. I removed those as well.

Next I found 2 blank entries (no name) and if you click on them, in the info box it'll display 2 lines of strange strings. (looks like those registery folder you find in windows with very long time, it looks like this: {ab234gbkjadsf-afbweb} I don't know what those were and since it doesn't even have a name i doubt it is used by anything else so I deleted those as well. (i was ready for a hard reset so don't care much if I screw things up)

After cleaned up the queue list I now only have the default things left such as repllog.exe calnot.exe, etc.

My alarm for both calendar and tasks started working immediately after I've done the above. So far I've tried setting up more than 20 appoints and tasks and i've gotten the popup and sound alarm for all of them.

Hope this can help those who's having the problem.

MemMaid is a DinarSoft product: http://www.dinarsoft.com/. I don't have it (yet), you can find more info on it by searching the Aximsite forums.

MemMaid has a trial function (14 days?), which I believe is fully functional. At least to the point you can study and clean up your Notification Queue.
