Have developed same problem as everyone else in this thread with my Axim X51v and WM5. Have tried all of Silvscorp's suggestions - alarm/notification settings, Memmaid to clear unwated notifications, removed Pocket Breeze, Spb Pocket Plus and trial versions of SuperAlert and Battery Pack Pro. Still no alarms, repeating alarms audible or visual. Could it be one of these software has altered or removed something essential? Any other suggestions before I go through the painful experience of a hard reset?

Hi all,

I followed exactly what was instructed and to my surprise it still did not fix my problem so then i noticed that i had like a hundread daily alarms for the same time that were not showing as duplicates probably because they are for different days. I deleted all those and just like i was told on this thread it fixed my problem!

Thank you all for SAVING MY SANITY!

I wish I could buy you all a beer! :)

Hi SilverCorp,

I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I've been looking through my Notification Queue and found a couple of items such as

1. repllog.exe
Argument: /sched /remote / h
Monday, July 10, 2006 - 11:21:03 pm

*Is this kind of file okay to delete? What is it?

2. clocknot.exe
When: The system time has changed

* I have a couple of these with different details? Are these necessay?

I'm sorry to bother you with these minute questions, but you seem to be one of the most knowledgeable members here on repairing this reminder problem.

Thanks ahead :)

DO NOT delete those! Those are system notifications that the OS runs automatically on a set schedule. Erasing them would be bad....like crossing the streams on GhostBusters.

Thanks Woollombi,

I appreciate the reply. The thing is, I don't know what else I can erase to make my reminders come back. I actually just did a hard reset on my device and am going to keep a watch over my Notification Queue to see what changes over the next few days. Once I upgraded the ROM to A012, I started to lose reminders after 2 days. We'll see what happens/changes after two days. Hopefully, I can spot something in the Queue that's messing things up.

However, it looks like I can't erase the repllog & clocknot. I like the Ghostbuster's reference. Made me laugh:)

Thanks again:approve:

Well, nobody wants to blow the face off their Axim!

Seriously, though, I hope the reset fixes it for you. You say it started with ROM A12? That's disappointing. I had hoped that this one would be the one to fix the problems with the X51v. Until there is enough stability to keep me comfortable, I'm sticking with 2003SE on my X50v. Hopefully, Dell will eventually fix WM5 for that model as well. Until then, I'm pretty happy with what I have! :)

Oh, BTW, WM2003 (original and SE) had a similar problem to this. It was caused because the OS didn't wake up the PDA long enough to run the weekly cleanups on the calendar and clock. Burr Oak software created a great fix for it called Wakeup Tweak. I'm not sure if it will run on WM5, but it may be worth checking out. Keeps both me and my Axim happy. Best of all is it's free.

You know it's funny, I've had a X30 mid for the past two years. It's been doing a great job, although I had to trade in 4 of them to get one that worked properly. However, the 5th one was great and a work horse for 2 years, never had a reminder failure.

But, around April I had a litte extra money come in and did some research on the forums here on the X51v. It seemed that the problems occurring with the OS weren't something I couldn't handle. Albeit, I did have a couple of minor expected problems. It thought I could deal with this new OS. But, 7 days after my second replacement, my reminders stopped working. I was on my 3rd X51v when A012 came out. I thought this might solve the reminder problem. But, it made it worse for me.

Now, my X51v can't seem to go 2 days without losing the reminder capability. My hope is that I can keep track of the Queue using memmaid and try to find and delete the problem causing items.

I'll update my progress here. I hope you guys don't mind helping me out if though:)

I've been pretty fortunate. My X50v has been rock solid stable since I got it, with the exception of a digitizer issue and Dell promptly replace my unit with a newer one. No complaints there.

I know I can handle most of the problems that come my way with computers/pda's. The real question is do I WANT to, and the answer is no, I would rather spend my time enjoying my technology than always fixing it. So, I pass on WM5 for the time being. Eventually it will be solid enough to move to.

Honestly, I was contemplating that if I can't get this reminder problem fixed , I would ask Dell to exchange my X51v for a X30 High. Currently, the Dell Techie who's been helping me gave a callback the other day saying he researched my problem to no avail. He continued, saying that he would like to further research and call me back in another 2 days. I really would rather keep my X51v, all of the new and improved funtions are great. For example, reading native MS documents, MS powerpoint Docs, etc. But, it may be all for not, if the basic calendar functions fail to work.

We'll see though. I hope I can use MemMaid to get by. Either that, or maybe the Dell Tech Assistance may come up with something. However, I won't hold my breathe for the later:) .

So far, the reason that my reminder disappears is because I changed a Task Subject from one thing to anther after it was synced. For example, I originally had a Task called "Car Oil Change". Then, I synced it with my computer. After that, I changed it to "Car Oil Change ASAP". Then, I synced again. After that, my reminder would disappear eventually for everything. So, if you had done that to one of the tasks, please look for it under Memmaid Notification Queue and delete that one.

I hope it helps.

I have discovered a new problem that did not exist with ROM A06.

The short version is, that the system hangs when a CF card is inserted and there are meeting reminders.

At first I thought it had something to do with the apps installed on the card, but after reading another post in Aximsite from a user that had exactly the same symptoms, I realized that the problem lies elsewhere, and that is with the interface between the Axim and the CF card.

It seems that while solving one issue, Dell and Microsoft have created another problem....

The thing is that for anyone like me, who uses the Axim constantly throughout the day, going from meeting to meeting, this problem is very problematic. This is because the system freezes, and no more appointment reminders pop up.

The existing solutions to the problem are:
a) Performing a SR everytime the system hangs (this is however a problem, if the system hangs often).
b) Turning on and off the system several times, and then pressing long the Power button, until a warning comes up (regarding losing all the unsaved data), cancelling the Power Off, and dismissing the meeting reminder popups.
c) Removing the CF card (this would mean reinstalling all apps that reside there to an SD card).

Well I had hoped this would fix my x50v but after looking at it in Memmaid I don't have any to delete. I really miss my calendar notifications!

Check the post I made in the 1st page. Double check with your reminder setting. There are certain settings combo will disable your alarm.

LOL, I think dell's plans are to ship you replacements for problem solving. I don't know how they make money having to replace axim's all the time. That could be why they are stopping axim's.

OK, Silv, you've been the man on this so far, so don't let me down... ;)

I've got a NEW situation. I've removed dups and any weird stuff as I've had to do about 3 months ago.

How 'bout this? I have about 12 tasks/calendar items in the queue from two days ago that WILL NOT delete, no matter how many times I remove them from MemMaid. I'm pretty sure this is my problem because, ahem...these items have since been REMOVED from Calendar/Tasks. My guess is my queue is 'frozen' because it can't find these items in the Cal/Tasks DBs.

I make a habit of cleaning out my calendar the day before (that way I can see if I forgot to reschedule any meetings), and I remove completed tasks weekly.

What'cha think?

-Regards,
Marc
