Thanks for the heads-up, but I already know about that program you are talking about, from way back. The reason why I did not install it then (and will not install it) is that my device is not suffering from that type of notification bug. Furthermore, the description states that "The Pocket PC 2003 OS appears to have a bug that can slow down the performance of a Pocket PC device, and can potentially cause ActiveSync delays". It doesn't say that it prevents calendar and task notification from "not firing". My device hasn't been hard reset since installing the last rom update which was about 3 years ago and I haven't noticed any slow downs nor any missed notification. The problem probably "is" device specific.
Hi.
I use notifications often enough. So it was disgusting for me when they suddenly stopped to work. So I tried to fix it so hard. No one of tricks from this topic didn't help me. Even alarmToday saved me for a day, not longer. But today I found one thing didn't mentioned here before. When I see the notification queue using MemMaid I found that if there items written in CAPITALS notifications don't work. Once I delete those items, new notification work!
Try to explain: item 'clocknot.exe' is Ok, but there are some items are 'CLOCKNOT.EXE'. When I delete 'CLOCKNOT.EXE' (and every other such 'TASKS.EXE', 'CALENDAR.EXE' etc.) - notifications came back.
I'm not a programmer and don't know how to avoid appearing such NOTIFICATIONS or how to make them normal (from 'TASKS.EXE' to 'tasks.exe'), and for now it is only way for me is to chek queue every SR or when adding a new notification.
PS: sorry for my English, hope you can understand me.
Thanks a lot. This was exactly what I was looking for...

Problem: Only the appointment and task notification not working.
I was just browsing the site and found lots of people having this problem so I figured I'd test it out (i've never used this function before) To my surprise, it doesn't work. I've enabled all the sound, notification and LED flash under setting. Set up different tasks and appointments and I don't get any sound and popups. I've tried the reset sound level, changing alarm sound clips and none of those helped. Just want to mention, all other notification works (wifi, activesync, etc)
Solution:
I remember under memmaid there is a section for notification queue and I figured to see what's going on.
First, in the queue list, I've found 7 duplicat entries. (may be these are the ones that I set up for testing and never activated even the time has past) I removed all those.
Second, I also see some notifications (7 of them) labled as "task" but the due day is on Jan. 01 /4017 !!! I've no idea how that got in there. I removed those as well.
Next I found 2 blank entries (no name) and if you click on them, in the info box it'll display 2 lines of strange strings. (looks like those registery folder you find in windows with very long time, it looks like this: {ab234gbkjadsf-afbweb} I don't know what those were and since it doesn't even have a name i doubt it is used by anything else so I deleted those as well. (i was ready for a hard reset so don't care much if I screw things up)
After cleaned up the queue list I now only have the default things left such as repllog.exe calnot.exe, etc.
My alarm for both calendar and tasks started working immediately after I've done the above. So far I've tried setting up more than 20 appoints and tasks and i've gotten the popup and sound alarm for all of them.
Hope this can help those who's having the problem.
Just to note it, my notifications had not been working for months, but I didn't really worry about it because I happen to be one of those weird people that don't really use the notifications much.
However, about a month ago, I stopped being able to connect my X51v via ActiveSync! It would try to connect and give an error that it was unable to connect to the device. I tried all sorts of things to try to resolve this and was never able to get it to work.
Today, I went through and used MemMaid to clear out old junk. I figured that I'd at least get my notifications working again. Well, they do -- and, suddenly, my device can connect and sycn via ActiveSync again no problem! BONUS! :)
Many thanks, I followed your advice when my reminders stopped working and it's fixed it a treat now! ;-)
Memmaid is an excellent program, I found my copy on PocketGear.com

First: THANK YOU SO MUCH for this solution. It pointed me in the right direction.
Second: I thought it would be important to note that MemMaid did NOT recognize all duplicates. It got most of them, but my reminders still did not work after removing the duplicates it found. I ended up having to go down the list one item at a time finding the date of the reminder and using the text to identify the problem. NOTE: I discovered that that the list is sorted oldest to newest, and when there was a duplicate text/time combo, I deleted the oldest entry. I also had to remove reminders that were still there from the past (that didn't go off because of the problem) before it would finally allow the reminders to display again.
Last: What would Windows CE/2003/Mobile 5 be without the fine coding of third parties?

Well, my reminders stopped working again the other day. I soft reset my Axim and used Memmaid to find that a birthday was in the backlog. Then, I thought back to my Axim last stopped doing reminders. I'm pretty sure it was on my last friend's birthday.
In other words, I think (in my case at least) that the yearly type of reminder, like an anniversary or birthday, tends to get stuck in the backlog, causing the reminder malfunction to activate.
As always, if the reminders don't work and you use memmaid without a soft reset, I'm never able to see the reminder or duplicate that caused the mess. But if you soft reset your axim and take another look, you should be able to see the reminder(s) that are the culprit.
I hope this may be of some help to those of you out there who are not sure what is causing your reminders to malfunction. As of the moment, memmaid alone seems to be enough to fix them in my case:approve:
I think Fightncomet is right.
My sons bithday was two days ago and my Axim has gone silent on the reminders.
Hmmmmm... I going to delete all the birthday entries. What a neat feature.:bang:

I've deleted all birthdays and anniversary's, done a soft reset and still no reminders.
I have contacted Dell support on this matter and sent a link to this thread. I wonder if I will get a reply.
Anyone want to place a bet on how long it will take for a reply from Dell?
HI all,
had my dell for 6 months and never had this problem then today the notifications stopped , took the advice here and usign memmaid deleted the entries that had dates in the past and now all ok again , fingers crossed it stays that way , thanks for everyones input in this thread , big help !!:)
Hello everyone, seems I've just joined a load of folk with the same problem whereby my notifications have suddenly stop working on my X51v.
Having read through this topic I notice the last post was a while ago so am wondering if the only option open to me is to buy Memmaid ? I noticed someone had posted a problem with Dell, does anyone know whether they have any intention of fixing this (before I get my wallet out !) ?
I've a horrible feeling this is going to be a stupid question, please forgive me I'm new here
I've downloaded R148392.EXE from Dell site and installation instructions have got me beat !
They advise :
Install process:
1. Copy the .CAB file to you Axim, Place it in the folder \personal.
2. Click and run the .CAB file on you Aixm to install the patch.
I've copied the .CAB file across as instructed but I'm afraid I have no idea how to "run" it ! There doesn't appear to be a "run/execute" feature under either the stylus menu or the bottom of window "Menu" menu ?
