Ok, so I finally dig out my old CF card to use on my "new" X50v. I'm all excited because I haven't had dual slots since my old Handera 330. I pop it in and......Ax freezes up completely. So I ask myself, "Self, what's going on here?".
After several minutes of nonresponse, I poke the reset button. Up comes the Ax, but unresponsive. Never gets past the owner info screen, even with multiple taps. Poke reset again.
PocketPlus's Safe mode comes up. I dutifully hold the action button down, but it boot normally and freezes again. So I do it again and tap/hold on the screen. Same result.
After numerous tries of this, I come to the conclusion that I can only hard reset at this point. :realmad: So I do it, and get the press this button to hard reset, or that one to cancel. Neither button responds to presses. :jd:
So now, my Ax is stuck on that screen. I've removed the battery, but how long does the backup battery last? Also, can anyone possibly explain *why* this occured? Did I do something that caused it?
I'm bummed now. I just hard/reset and reinstalled all of my chosen software to purchase/keep fresh, got it all configured, etc. and was planning on having some good use of it today. It was fear of something like this that has prompted me to still be carrying my Palm (T5) in my other pocket for now. I had just decided to make the Ax my "daily driver" a couple days ago. Ok, I'm gonna go now.
Thanks,

Funny, I just checked that right before reading your post....DOH! Sure enough. I don't remember locking it, though.
Don't feel bad - I couldn't tell you how many times I went crazy because my Axim stopped responding, only to finally realize that the lock was on!
I love the lock - stops me from constantly turning the Ax on via the Record button. But when you forget about it, it can be maddening.

Unfortunately, backup battery already ran down. Thank God for Sprite Backup! Everything back to where it was 40 minutes ago.
One more question regarding Sprite. When I sync next, will it create duplicates in Outlook or on the Ax?
Thanks again,
Most likely you will have duplicates. However Activesync should recognize that fact and offer to remove all duplicates for you. If not, and if you have a significantly high number of duplicates to deal with, it may be worth your while to look at Outlook Duplicates Remover. NOTE: This is a direct download link from http://www.slipstick.com. Sperry sells something similar for $25. Im not certain but I think this is a demo or trial version.
I got Version 4.o free when it was originally developed by monks and offered as "prayerware" by Fr. Simon Rundell of the Parish of the Holy Spirit in England, but they apparently sold it off and ODR5 is now sold as shareware. I think that Sperry took the original program and split it into 8 separate "eliminator" add-ins to Outlook. They sell them individually for $25 or a bundle of all for ~$70. I sure hope they paid Fr. Rundell well for the initial program, 'cause they sure are stretching it now.
EDIT: From what I can determine, slipstick.com is making this version of ODR5.exe available free of charge. You can never tell how long that will last, so get it while you can. Invaluable resource!
You're the tenth person I know who hard-reset their device because of the lock button. Hope this will make you feel better.

never a problem for me cuz thats the first thing i check.
ROFL i don't know how many times i had a moment of panic caused by the lock button lukily no hard reset yet. I found the best way to not do this is make the lock button part of your axim ritual; Lock it when your not using it, unlock when ready to. I usually do the software lock as well as the hardware one but that is just preferance.
I think we've all done that at least once. I was in panic mode the first time it happened, after I'd only had my Axim for a couple of weeks. Now, I always check that before trying anything else.
