Activesync quit working

I know there are other threads about this but they all said to reinstall, etc, etc. I have uninstalled/reinstalled activesync numberous times, soft reset my handheld, rebooted my computer numerous times and it still doesn't connect. I even deleted the partnership. It has been working fine until today.
Just before it messed up, I tried out the spb pocket plus and then uninstalled it and I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, activesync stopped connecting.
When I plug in the handheld, it makes the syncing noise but never connects. It shows the 'found new hardware, dell axim' message, it just never connects. I tried my Ipaq and it connects fine. Any ideas?

What version of AS and what model axim? What OS are you running (both PC and axim?)

All firewalls are turned off. I think I'm going to try doing a hard reset as soon as I can back it up to my storage card and see if that fixes it.

On the PC with the axim disconnected go to the device manager and delete the Axim device. I would then reboot, because its what I do. Then reconnect the axim and it should work.

I don't see the axim in the device manager. I did delete it using activesync last night though and it didn't help.
