Worried [Solved] Unable to complete the hard-reset

hi guys. My X50v is running WM5.

After making some mistakes, I tried to restore the system this morning. The first restoration stuck at 44%, so I hard-resetted it and tried again. It was then successful. After I made some changes and soft-reset, the system would not boot (the progress bar stops at about 85%)

Then I did a hard-rest again, but this time the hard-reset progress bar stuck at 85%... I waited for about an hour but in vain.

What's the problem actually ?
Currently I just leave the unit without battery to drain the internal backup battery. If this doesn't work, is there anything I can try?

Thanks to Domme's SD Image Loader tutorial(sticky thread), I am able to bring my axim back to life...

Here in Malaysia, Dell quoted me RM891 (about 1/2 the price of original) for a replacement, even though my unit is still under warranty! And when I told that I'm using the original Upgrade CD from Dell for Axim X50v, she replied that the CD was offered by the Sales team, whereas her Technical Support team has the policy to support only Axim X50 series with PPC2003 at most!

However, I'm glad that everything is back to normal, and i saved RM891 (guess I won't even take it, and I'd rather buy a new X51v or other ppcs). Thumbs up, Domme and Aximsite.com :approve:

I read a few threads on similar issues a while back ... the next thing you can try is to put it in the cradle overnight and just let it run. Some folks has success doing this, seemed something in the background wanted a few hours to complete

in any event, leave it on the cradle for like 3 days so the device clears. Than reinstall everything and put the files back on if the restore doesnt work again.

Also see reflashing with the SD loader sticky.

That is what I did in exactly the same situation.

My AXIM just froze one day.

Reset and hard reset resulted in the 90% Dell Screen.

Couldnt be bothered waiting 3 days!!!

After the SD Relash (Software not boot loader) it has never done it since.... touch wood!

Thanks guy.. I've tried leaving the device without battery overnight.. and just now I tried to hard reset.. same thing happens.

So the next thing is to leave it running on the cradel (with the power on right).. then the SD Loader

I've done the self diagnostic successfully... and then called Dell Support, whom pushed the problem to sales department for introducing upgrade CD for X50v to WM5. So my warranty is voided.

I'd like to try the SD Flash but it seems no way to get the ROMS. rapidsharing has been having problems :(. Anyone can provide another link for the X50v WM5 rom?

These might (or might not) help: the OS scans the file structure of all storage during boot. A scrambled SD card can prevent booting, and can even wreck a restored backup and make machine unbootable.

Make sure there is no SD or CF in the system when you do the hard reset

You may be able access BIS via ActiveSync even though booting doesn't complete. If so, try deleting everything from BIS.

I've removed both SD and CF, and tried numerous hard reset.. but all failed.

Now its the 3rd hour the hard reset stucks at 85%.. going to wait till end of the day :|

also I cannot access the device in this state :) thanks for your suggestion anyway

Can anyone provide AximX50v_WM5_A01_EN.rar (X50V WM5)

The link posted in the sticky no longer works... and it seems that SD Image Loader indeed solves this type of problems.

can't wait to try it out.. Thanks!
