VGA Skins for WM5 Media Player or TCPMP

Okay, I've got TCPMP running on my Ax x51v which I actually use a lot. I have to use it to watch DivX movies and, due to an issue with TomTom 5 taking over the audio in my Ax while it's running, I also have to use it if I want to listen to music while having TomTom give me directions. When I'm just tooling around town, however, I use Microsoft's Media Player.

What I'm looking for are either skins to make TCPMP more finger friendly (which it definitely is NOT right now) or skins to make Windows Media Player more attractive and a bit more finger friendly.

I would prefer free skins, but if the best looking/working stuff out there is not free, I'll deal with it. Can anyone tell me where to find a handful of skins (VGA only please) to browse for download or purchase?

MortPlayer, which has a built-in finger-friendly skin, is what I use for audio. (I sill use TCPMP for video). There's also a IPOD-lookalike skin to WMP, but i don't think it's free.

Well, I took a look at MortPlayer. I have to say that the stock skin is Fugly. Fortunately, it seems that their user base has added a handful of additional skins that aren't too bad. Overall, I'd prefer not to have to install a bunch of different media players on my system and since there's no way to pull Windows Media Player, I'd prefer to work with it.

I will try out MortPlayer, though, and let folks know if it'll still play music while TomTom 5 is running.

Also, I found the Microsoft link to PPC Media Player Skins:
PPC Skins

They kind of suck though.

Also, how do you install these things. I've downloaded a handful of Microsoft-blessed skins, put them in various locations on my Ax and Windows Media Player has never been able to find them!

Thanks for the offer, but installing an app that will only work for 3 days and die forever isn't really appealing to me. If that company was still operational or there was any mechanism, whatsoever, to keep the app running...sure.

I was lucky enough to buy pPod while it was still there.

@ Chaosrain

Where did you put the files?

You need to put WMP skins in Program Files/Windows Media

-----------

I recommend Pocket Player by Conduits! Great Audio quality and handy features :).
Bit pricy, but definetly worth every penny if you ask me!

Even if you do put the files in program files\windows media player you could have problems. The files have to be made for your system (if you have an x51v which has WMP 10 then you need to get VGA skins and then you should be fine)

Actually, you don't have to wate your RAM by storing in Program Files\Windows Media.... Just create a directory on your storage card can store them there. People can not find them just b'cause the skins they use (especially from Microsoft) are not designed for WMP10. Try this one!

This is some skins I use for my WMP10 and MortPlayer (iPod)

When I select a custom skin and then close WMP10, the next time I open WMP10 it tries to search for skins again (it then displays the custom skin I last chose). Is there a way to get WMP10 to just load up the custom skin I have selected automatically so I don't have to reselect the skin each time I fire up WMP10? I've tried locating the skin files on a storage card and within Program Files\Windows Media Player.

WMP9 never had this problem. I could select a custom skin stored on my storage card and WMP9 would automatically load with that skin each time I ran the program. Sometimes I just don't get MS logic. They always seem to move 2 steps forward, one step back, and another step to the side.

Solsie,
Hello. I see you are using Tweak 2.0 as one of your skins. I bought the skin and installed it but it didn't show up under the SKINS tab. I then received the 2.5 upgrade but still can't see it under the SKINS tab. Are you using it for WMP10? I am running an Axim X51v on WM5. How did you get it to work? I would love to get it to work because of the finger friendly LARGE buttons. Thanks.

Regards,
Chris D.
