Error message: "Unable to obtain a serrver assigned IP address..."

I get this message too???

I receive this message whenver I sync:

"Pocket PC Networking
Unable to obtain a server assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in the Network settings."

Everything else is working fine: synching (on two different desktops), receiving e-mails over the web, wireless, etc.

Anyone know how I can keep this message from popping up every time I synch? It's more of a nuisance than a problem.

Ok guys, a couple of people HAVE given the solution. A ton of the responses and posts were incredibly detailed, and not helpful at all (thanks though). My Axim was doing this. It was doing this at work, and at home. Both computers WERE connected to the Internet, and even with the error message, the Axim would access the Internet via ActiveSync.

HERE IS THE SOLUTION - VERY SIMPLE!!!!!

1. Remove the Axim X51V from the cradle.
2. Edit the X51V registry (Resco or PHM will work fine, as will others).
3. Look for the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\RNDISFN1\Parms\TcpIp
Modify "EnableDHCP" from 1 to 0.
4. Quit the registry editor and soft reset the X51V.

THAT'S IT. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!!

I'm a novice. Steps 1 & 4 seem pretty simple and step 3 seems like it will be simple once you get past step 2; however, I have no idea how to do step 2. What is Resco and PHM? I assume this will work for a X51, too.

I have to say that I don't have a final word on this, but I made this experiment (every time I used the cradle I was getting the error)

1. Turn On the Axim
2. Start > Settings > Connections > Dell Wlan Utility
3. Click (tap) Setting > Click (tap) Remote NDis Host*
4. Add an IP (I have heard that 169.254.2.1 should be used, but I don't know why so I tried to see the result of 192.168.1.190) Subnet mask 255.255.255.0Default Gateway (blank)
5. OK, OK, OK

It seems to be working and the annoying message is gone. If you guys know why I should add 169.254.2.1 instead. Or you have another suggestions , do not hesitate to correct me.
