Exclamation Odyssey causing significant startup delays?

Hi,

I am a happy X51V user and was using the WLAN without this Odyssey client, so using the plain WLAN connection utility in WM5.

Now recently i enabled Odyssey and configured my WLAN networks in there.

Almost at the same time i also upgraded Pocket Breeze and ILauncher to the latest patch release.

After these actions Odyssey and PB) when turning on the Axim the screen comes up and then it freezes for about 10 seconds. B.t.w. WLAN not switched on at this time.

So when trying to open the start menu, no response. Start hitting it several times because i get impatient and only after these 10 seconds my device starts responding. Also WLAN via Odyssee worked fine. But the startup slowness!!

I decided to disable Odyssey again, leaving PB and ILauncher plugins on. WLAN was f*cked up completely. Didn't want to connect. Showed the network in the default WLAN as inhibited or something. After manually clicking on the WLAN connection settings a couple of times without really changing anything, enabling Odyssee again, switching off my networks in Odyssey disabling Odyssey again, suddenly after a couple of retries my WLAN started working again. So Odyssey obviously f*cked up something in the WLAN area.

Now without Odyssey running and using the default WLAN my Axim is fast as it used to be again.

Advice: don't use Odyssey it's doing stuff at startup i guess even when you don't need WLAN yet. Disadvantage: no preferred networks that i can select anymore which is nice in Odyssey but not willing to sacrifice the startup speed!

Jan

So what exactly did you come up with? Are you using Odyssey or not?

And watch the language.

Maybe point Amit to this thread as well? I have no idea what action exactly brought back the speed. One thing i have different now at least is that i don't use Odyssey any more. But unsure if that was really the reason. In all the actions, i had also disabled all today plugins, including Odyssey. Then did a soft reset. This is when i had my normal speed back again. Then i had to re-enable WLAN via the normal standard WM5 software which as mentioned also caused me some troubles (inhibited network etc.) but finally managed. Then i re-enabled all plugins one by one and didn't loose any speed any more. I haven't tried re-enabling Odyssey again. Actually don't want to because i don't really need it and caused me some troubles anyhow

Ok... turns out I never had the problem you were talking about. Mine only stalls because of meters. It takes the meters 5-7 seconds to re-check everything and then they work. This is pretty stupid (no offense to Amit), because SPB PocketPlus never did this.

No, because I have meters, and every time I turn on Ax, the meters go to 0 and then go to whatever they read. That must mean that it has to do with a setting, so can you tell me what your settings are in options

Most are default. Nothing special that would explain this. But now it's bed time ;-)
