Just want to repot that I have successfully got my x50v connected to my new Cingular Razr V3. I have read a few old post on bluetooth connections on this forum and it helped a lot!
Here is my I have and what it took to get to where I am:
(1) You absolutely need some kind of data plan for internet connection! GSM phone knows difference between voice and data. Cingular (I believe T-Mobile too) wants you to pay for the data usage on top of your voice plan. You basically have two choice: GPRS (via MediaNet of Cingular, $20+/month) or CSD ($3.99/month with Cingular). CSD is cheap but slow (9.6Kbps). Since all I need is an emergency backup, I chose CSD. Without CSD/GPRS, the phone would hang up in a few seconds when you try to dial out to your ISP.
Setting up the bluetooth with my x50v is very easy. Turn on bluetooth on the V3, pairing is up with x50v, set up a DUN, and things just start to work. The speed actually is not bad if you surf the WAP site (mostly text), such as Yahoo Mobile Email.
(2) I also bought a copy of Moto Phone Tool and cable via
www.axshop.com for a cheap $4.75 including shipping. It is sold for $30-$40 elsewhere. I have read a lot of complaints about this site but mine came without any problem. This software sets up a sync path between my Razr and Outlook, and also came with USB modem driver and software for dial-up. I have used this tool to connect the internet via the phone and it works the first time.
(3) The phone also came with a few apps for connect the net. I also downloaded the Mini Opera and it works great! When I took a look at the the default browser profile I noticed it has both CSD and GPRS settings. When I took out the GPRS settings it is not working anymore. So I thought "Wait! I am going to be charged for GPRS data!" as I remembered that I have "MediaNet pay per use" on my account by default. So I called Cingular up. The rep does not know too much either. After he talked to someone, he concluded that I will not be charged for any bytes transfered as long as I have CSD on the account. He hinted that the phone could use GPRS for data transfer but I will not be charged since I have CSD.
The Razr V3 is a extreme good piece of hardware. But the firmware that came with it? Just two words: IT SUCKS!!!! :realmad: Moto engineers really need to learn from Korean/Japanese on user interface design. It is so sad that such a good piece of hardware lacks many easy to develop yet very useful features. Just to list a few:
- No quick alarm. My old VX6000 has a feature which let you set an alarm for 10 min, 30 min, 1 hr, or 2 hr later. It has snooze function too. Why Moto does not have it?

You have to push so many keys to get an alarm setup on V3! The cursor does not automatically go to min section once you enter hour.
- The reminder on databook only ring/vibrate once! Since I am a nice guy with phone on vibrate mode all the time, it is not too easy to feel the vibrate if it just does it once!
- The phonebook is a JOKE!

It forces to create one entry for each number/email even the name is the same! When sync out of Outlook, it just splits up the entries on Outlook and creates one entry per phone/email. This is purely a user interface issue!
- The text entry method is, well, very Motorola! The iTap stuff is hard to use and so different from everybody else! :uglyhamme
Anybody have any good suggestions on where to find some good software on V3 on alarm, phonebook, etc. ?
Big Thanks from Big Redfox!
