eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime

Hi, I am a new member on Aximsite and a relatively recent Axim X50v owner. I have to say that when I first got my Axim, it had WM5 and even with all the great patches and fixes the site members suggested in the many threads, WM5 just underperformed to no end. I eventually rolled back to WM2003se and I am soooo happy.

Now to my actual thread topic . I recently had to install Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime as one software I use requies it to run. I noticed that my program memory increased from ~17.8 to 23.8 Megs. I also noticed that the memory drains much slower. That's great I guess but has anyone noticed this before and if so, why does this happen?

Thanks.

P.S. I would hate to be re-asking the same question but the search I pulled didn't pull anything on this particular question.

You can install the runtimes into BIS or a storage card, which I would recommend to save memory. Uninstall them from where they are and reinstall into BIS or SD/CF Card.

As for memory draining more slowly - no idea.

Thx. I did wind up installing them on the memory card. Still kinda curious as to why 1) I have more program memory free and 2) why it drains much slower. My guess is that it might have to do something with it being more efficient at running scripts. Whereas before it would allocate much more memory for it to try to do the same tasks.....just a guess
