Eh... With coupons at the time I bought it was about 270. It really wasn't a bad deal at the time. I'm happy with it anyway.

Here in Australia Dell use a local online auction (www.graysonline.com.au) to sell off their "no questions asked" return period items. Dell themselves reseal all the boxes and then have them auctioned off. You can even purchase standard warranty after the auction ends.

My new x51v cost me AU$410 which is about US$290. I think its pretty good considering they retail here for AU$770 (with no discounts/offers). I don't know if Dell do a similar thing with no-fault returns on other countrys?

I agree, and that's what I was trying to say in my earlier post. If someone wants an Axim but doesn't have the time to cruise all of the discount sites, buy coupons on eBay, etc. it might just be that their time is more valuable than saving a few bucks. You can definately get better deals if you are willing to do your homework, but not everybody is into (or good at) that.

Bought it in Europe for slightly more than 500 US$ - and it was quite cheap, compared to the common prices (around $600) here. (Yes, I know, I'm not smart - still, we Europeans have 2 times higher prices than in the U.S....)

That's not a very strong argument...EVERYTHING people buy has been marked up..

you think that underwear your wearing really cost $2 to make? More like 50 cents.. therefore, by your logic, everyone who is wearing underwear is not very smart...

I knew I was onto something buy going commando.. although I fear zippers now..

however, like you I've been searching for a great deal on an axim.. however it's starting to waste my time spending an hour or so per day looking on auctions, browsing forums for coupons, etc.. i'm at the point now that I just want to say screw it and buy one... so now I'm mad at myself for now buying a fefurb last week for $344 shipped with all the warranties, a rhino case, and usb travel charger.. cause now Dell jacked up the price and it's $389 shipped , no case, no usb travel cable..

so, what i consider not very smart, is wasting that hour or so looking for that which could not be obtained, when I could have been finishing my work and going to bed earlier and getting more sleep..

How the heck did you guys get it direct from dell for $300 range? I checked every coupon site, read forums and the best I could do was $400 range. I got mine off of ebay as well for $300 but I sure would have prefered direct, less worries and less work. Damn it.......they f$#* you in the drive through......

I got mine from Dell for $324. A couple weeks ago the X51V was 35% off. Bought leather flip case and car charger from Alpinetop.com for $21 shipped.
I bet the x51v goes on sale again tommorrow for at least 20% off. It changes every friday.

i probably paid more than anyone for mine. i paid $513.76 for an axim x51v with a spare battery and 3 year warranty.

i do not trust e-bay at all yet, but i did get my 5gb microdrive there for $60.

the killer was the almost 10% tennessee sales tax.

x51v for 379 CAD before taxes from Dell Canada, no Ebay for me.

But for the original poster ... I paid 5 billion dollars. Did I pay too much? Am I stupid???

You're tact and diplomacy leaves much to be desired.

I agree.. it will probably go on sale again.. I expected it to be today actually.... a rep told me to try calling her back today when the new deals arrive (when she thought they would arrive)..

for those bargain hunters, this is what she told me, based on history, Dell usually has a new deal every wed or thursday.. usually.. the reps aren't told when or what the deals will be.. and, they can only work with the current pricing...they can't touch refurb prices..

This is from the rep that got everyone those awesome x51v extended warranty and extra battery deals during the 35% off period..

when buying on ebay try to buy from a canada source as it might take longer most items from canada are straite from japan. It is cheaper to ship to canada from japan than it is to the states
