mrbuggs - yes you did everything correct.

STEPS to get connected: ( thanks goes to FatWallet community )

1. Members are reporting success with all of verizon's plans. Previously it was thought that this service only worked with America's choice, but apparently this is not true. You can use Express Network with ANY of verizon's plans.
2. Make sure your account is provisioned for Express Network. This involves a phone call to verizon.
3. Make sure your phone is compatible with this feature. Most of the newer phones are, like the samsung A530.
4. Purchase a cord to connect your cell phone to your laptop. RadioShack has one that fits the new A530 and Lx phones perfectly. (you can find the appropriate driver at futuredial.com found Here. (you don't need to buy anything).
5. Download the verizon dialer, as it automatically will set up your laptop to connect to the verizon Express Network.

Now the instructions were how to hook up your laptop with the cell phone. And this is true- if you can pull it, you will have 125 kbps /75 kbps in most places, including highways. It is awesome.

I tired to pull that on Axim via Bluetooth, WITHOUT the dialler - and it worked perfectly.. however I am sure you have to be on the Express Network thing. I have seen a post with a different username and pass, and some users say that it works, but not sure where it was. Try googling #777, verizon express network username etc.

You don't have to be shy about using your phone as a modem! tfelmly is right - Verizon doesn't not support that - meaning they wont help you setting it up, but they don't say that you can't. It is official deal. Use it and abuse it I would say. ( as I do )..

So call a rep and ask him if your phone is on the express network. Besides that.. hmm.. not sure what else to say.

OK> Just out of curiosity I did a small reasearch.

Another thing - what I would like to know - how to set up axim to recieve that full 125 kbps ? When you connect to the laptop you will get it, but the axim - you can go to a speed benchmark site and it will show you that you are only pullin 56 kbps. I wonder if there are any tweaks that could open the throttle for x51v? Any ideas ?

Latest update...phone Axim connects to phone, phone dials and then call terminates in about 20 secs.

Am I missing something?

Probably not. I use my axim for email checking a lot of times. I connect with my Nokia 6230 via BT. The connection to the network is done via GPRS (which is slower than GSM). If the messaging app has read all messages from the server (or if there are none) it disconnects. Otherwise you would waste money for a connection being online but doing nothing...

Ok, but what if I just want to go to the net and check my bank balance. When I call, doesn't it just establish a connection just like wifi?

I'm very confused, thought this whole process would be simple, but it's a pain in the tail.

I just want things to work, I don't have the time to spend all day trying to connect something that should work without confusion.

I'll keep trying. Any help ya'll can provide would be great.

I'm a newbie myself. I don't know how this Fi-WI stuff works. I think I'm lucky because I have a MSN account for my e-mail and stuff. Today, I was at my sons soccer game out in the middle of a field and decided to turn on my Fi-WI. Guess what? That's right! an open network popped up. I clicked on it and clicked on my pocket MSN and connected to my e-mail??? I'm standing in the middle of a field reading my e-mail. Can't believed it worked! I have no idea where the connection came from? Is it possible a near by house had a wireless (unsecured) network open??

That was a cool thing. I know that that it is possible. My computer guy just drives through neigborhoods and finds networks to tap into. I have a t-mobile account and can get online at Starbucks but I don't always feel like stopping at one (even though they're on every corner).

I guess you just need to find a hot spot or open network to get online. Seems a little bit of a hassle. You could try Verizon broadband wireless, shich I'm going to look into next week. I could eliminate my cable modem and just hook my PC, my wifes laptop and my Axim through verizon, which I guess is anywhere.

Problem is, my cable is lightning fast, 1223 Kbps last test, and I don't think that wifi will be as fast.

GOT to find a better solution.
