x50v vs. x51v

OK guys. 2nd post. First one didn't get much of a response and I want to make an informed decision.

I have been lurking around these boards for some time now researching and still have my doubts about both. I have the money, I'm ready to buy. I can go either way...x50v or x51v. But I still can't decide. What are the biggest pro and cons of each device? (You can point me to other threads if this has already been dealt with). Is there support still available through dell for the x50v? I am looking at buying the x50v off of e-bay (here in the UK) for around 180GBP but am not sure if they offer a warranty.

What do you guys think? I am looking for some serious advice in this. I want to be an owner of an axim by the end of next week. does anyone know of any other places to purchase an axim other than e-bay/dell ere in the UK?

Help me Obi-wan your my only hope!

Rue

I've Had my 51 for 3 months and use it a Lot. I am using It To Post this. I Have never done a Hard Reset. as a PC goes i have less Problems with my 51 than my desktop! I use bluctooth and wifi every day. Its almost flawless. the word, Excel, and Power Point Capabilities are great. I could buy the 51 and a cellphone with a Headset. when A2DP becomes supported it will only be on wm5. And we Know WM5 does not work well on A 50

I think a warrenty is almost a necessity with some of the problems that have been seen. That being the case, i think your only choice is an X51.

BTW, I have A2DP working fine on my x50 with WM2003se.

The future is the X51. That said, the current operating system is having some problems with some applications, so just be prepared for some adventures with third-party software. The X50 series is not getting much new software, and sooner or later the third party support for WM3 is going to end. WM5 is not working well in the X50 series, so sooner or later the device will be a dead-end.

I have an X50v, and don't plan on WM5. I'll live with my WM3 until I'm forced to change. Maybe by then the adventures with the X51 will be resolved.

I've got both devices. The issues (minus those of bluetooth profile users) are quite minimal. Most serious developers are on the WM 5 wagon... so the apps are solid.

Given the choice ... I took the 51v (gave the 50v to my wife) and I would do it all over again!

Get a warranty (just in case), and get the 51v :approve:

I feel that now that there are backup solutions for WM5 available you could probably go either way. If you go with a X50V, you'll probably want to stick with WM2K3.2 for awhile.

I have to say I agree - getting the x50v would really be a limitation in the long run. As of right now we are receiving the butt-end of support as far as rom upgrades and such. It is painfully obvious that the x51's are what dell is mostly focusing on. If it were me, I would definitely go with the x51...
