swapping batteries

I'm having problems when i swap from the extended battery back to the dell orginal (not the other way). The PDA can't power up, after replacing the battery a 'couple' of times, it starts up half way, and after a half hour it begins starting up normal and i can begin using it again. Anyone having the same problem?
