News reading problems and e-mail glitch

All hands,
I need help resolving a couple of problems.

I cannot get a good download of news stories either from Avantgo or directly from sites such as nytimes.com. When I download an individual story it arrives on my Axim X51v screen only one or two words wide. The whole story is there, but the column is only a word or two wide. This is true with PIE or with Opera. If I click on the Get Printable Version button on the NYTimes the story switches to full column width.

Does anyone know how I can correct this so that I can actually get more than one or two words on a line on these stories without having to dowload the printable version?

Recently my e-mail started vanishing. If I have some mail in my inbox and then touch the send/receive button in Messaging, the old mail disappears when the new mail arrives. I cannot find it in any of the device folders. Where does it go? Why? How can I keep it?
