Suspending Axim x51v while Active Sync is running = no more Active Sync until reboot
Hi!

I have a brand new Axim x51v with WM5 and AS 4.1. OS is Windows XP Pro with all patches/updates applied.

The cradle is connected via USB to my Dell Notebook. Everything is running with AC connected.

When I boot my notebook and my Axim is in the cradle AS recognizes the device and everything is fine. When I decide that my Axim should be off (while in the cradle) AS disconnects (thats fine!) but does not reactivate when I press the power button on the Axim.

So:

Suspending the Axim while in the cradle = reboot the notebook to have AS running.
This is even more anoying: all my USB devices (external HD, USB Stick, MP3 Player etc. ) are no longer recognized! They keep working if they are plugged in before but after the "suspend the Axim" thing they no longer work! Only a reboot helps. Seems AS + Axim kills my USB hubs "new device detection" function ..

Any ideas? USB drivers are the one's shipped with Windows.

TIA,
TZi

Do you have BT on your notebook? You can sync using BT. How, I don't know since I don't have BT on my desktop.

No - I do not have BT here but I guess USB is supposed to work!?
Are there any updated USB drivers for AS?

A couple of things you could do.

1) Leave the axim on (or sleeping) and go to network connections and disable the network connection to the windows mobile device. That will stop the constant syncing.

2) Take the axim out of the cradle if must power off.

3) I have found that USB behaves that way all the time. I always have a hell of a time getting my Kodak printer and camera to work. So I leave them un plugged unless I want to use them.

Huh. I have my new Axim with A06 Rom and Fake Server trick connected to my Sony Vaio Laptop. While in its cradle and everything on, I can turn off my x51v and turn it back on.

ActiveSync disconnects when off, yet reconnects when my axim is powered back on. I upgraded my ActiveSync 4.0 (which comes bundled) with 4.1 off MS Website.
I did this because it wasn't syncing up to my new dell B130 notebook with outlook 2003 using my company's exchange server (which upgrading didn't help).

ActiveSync tries to sync with outlook, which can't connect to my exchange because i'm at home (go figure), so it just sits there and never syncs. So thats why I use my "Home" (personal) sony vaio.

So try that. 4.1

Hi!

I am already using AS 4.1 (Build 4841) shipped with my Axim...

The main issue is that my notebook's USB functionality as affected - I cannot longer connect USB sticks, USB HDDs, USB mice etc. The connected one's still work but no newly connected devices.... (until reboot)
