Damaged Stylus

Took delivery of my X51v on Friday and the stylus was not seated in the device when I unpacked it (must have come out in shipping) and the coating on the tip is scratched.

Called Dell and they are calling me back on Monday to decice whether they are able to replace a stylus or if they need to swap the whole device!! I told them that as they sell additional stylus's (sp?) that they should be able to.

Any way, my question is how likely is the scratched stylus coating to damage the screen if I use it in the meantime? It feels rough on my finger, but is only one one side. Trying to use it on the good side in the meantime, but don't want to risk damage if I scrape the screen with the rough side if it is likely.

Get a screen protector ASAP! I have managed to scratch screen protectors with an undamaged stylus and they can be easily replaced, unlike the original.

A lot us prefer pen-style styluses over the stock ones (use search for "phd and stylus" to get hits on the various threads where they have been discussed). You might want to give one of those a try while you get your on-board stylus sorted out.
