There are some encouraging signs from the other manifacturers. Sprint just issued WM5/AKU2 for the PPC-7600 yesterday and K-Mate JAM also just received the update few days ago.

No offence, but how many threads to we need wondering when an update is going to be available?
Good question... the whole thing is leaving me a little long in the tooth....;)

It'll come when it comes. Right now all we need to do is hang in there and make the best of our current X51s.
We're talking about the update for WM5 x50v.

I don't think it will effect dell at all. Those device don't have any major problems and they're built for WM5. Besides, they're not discontinued.

With all due respect Khris, but I think it's important to hear "anything" about WM5 update, talking about it it's a good thing for us X50v user as we are waiting to update our devices to the new OS. I personally check everyday this site to find out any news about it, as I'm one of those who keep my hopes up on a new ROM update for the x50v.
It's true, though, that must of us X50v users aren't having serious promblems with WM2003SE, but anyway, we want to taste the new flavor of windows mobile just like other are doing.:approve:
I bought my Axim in July. I was holding off originally - was going to wait until the new model which included WM5. Then Dell had a promotion: Buy your Axim X50v today, and we are guaranteeing support for WM5, and will ship you a free upgrade when it releases. So with that commitment I went ahead and bought it. (I didn't want to buy a near end-of-life model but saw they were going to support the new platform on it).
So they sent me the WM5 update in October or November, but it isn't even usable. So essentially I was sold my X50v under the understanding they were going to develop and support the new OS on this platform. In my view they have not held up their end of the bargain. WM5 is not usable (locks up, requires hard boots, half the BUILT-IN apps don't function properly), and so they have failed on their commitment.
I would have not bought the X50V if they accurately advertised their intentions like this:
We will sell you your X50 today with 2003SE, we will send you the free upgrade to WM5 in October, but it won't work very well at all. Then if we feel like it, MAYBE sometime in the next 12 months we'll release an update to try to make SOME of WM5 usable on your device.
