x50v acting strange when swapping batteries

Just recently, my x50v hard reset itself for no reason after a week of inactivity. I know the extended battery that was in it was fully charged and i've definetely left it inactive for longer then that before without any problems.

Anyway, I figured it was a fluke and restarted it. Now, whenever I take the battery out of the back, it give the "you just did the hard reset function, hit button A to clear memory etc..." If I remember correctly, my x50v has never done this when I swap batteries. If I hit cancel, everything seems ok, but i'm almost positive this has never happened before.

Any thoughts? Is something goofed up with my backup battery even though the status shows ok?

Your backup battery might have died. How long have you had your x50v and batteries? The battery usually lasts around 1-2 years.

The extended battery isnt even a year old yet. It's only about 8 months and i've never had a problem with it holding a charge...

I think you should call Dell's support than. Everything should be covered under warranty.

Blah....I was saving that as a last resort but it doesnt look to promising....

Are there any apps out there to test battery capacity such as the backup battery?

I think you should just replace the unit and save the trouble of looking further into the problem. Dell will be reponsible for all the shipping and you should have the replacement unit in less than 3 days.

ya i think its a good idea, but u could also complain another way and get urself a x51v, when u call make a puttish lie and tell them u where told that if the problem still occured after doing a hard reset they were going to send me the latest x51v thats how i went from a x30 to a x51v, they also included the battery, case, cradle, charger, and then u just return the stuff they gave u to replace.

Great idea. Though, I never can get them to give me an x51v. They always tell me that I have to contact other department as an excuse. Maybe you can tell me the number you used to call them?

Sure, go ahead and do this, and thus contribute to higher pricing for all of us. Only a little dishonest.

Ya they told me the same thing but they acually gave me the pda, u need to call the customer servicce department.

I tried on their online customer chat, but they told me that they only deal with items that's less than 21 days old. Maybe phone and online chat support are different? What's the exact phrase you use to get the x51v??

To Lizard Weasel, I'm not going to lie to them. They did tell me once that they will replace it with x51v when I asked them. Though, they never do so.

That's strange. I did an online chat to have my nearly 3 year old monitor replaced. I prefer online chat so there is less misunderstanding of spoken words and it's easier for you to provide information like serial numbers and addresses. Of course, they still got part of the address wrong...
