Mad Oil slick pattern under original screen

I have taken off my Boxwave crystal protector thinking it was put on with some air trapped underneath. What I have found that it wasn't under the protector but its under the actual touch screen. It floats around if I move it with the stylus but always ends up in the center of the screen after I stop. :realmad: What could of caused this? I am so upset right now. I don't know if this will go away or what?

I have found another thread on this (see below). This is very common from what I've read but many just don't notice it. You have to view it under certain light conditions. In my case I have spiral fluorescent lights in the room.

My Axim is only 2 weeks old and this was not noticable until I applied the Boxwave screen protector.

I'm going to try the "tape trick" and see if it works.

It's normal. My first x50 had this and i contemplated returning it to dell. with use it blends back to normal. Dont worry about it unless it really bothers you. It only bothered me when watching movies

thats strange still, because it seems to afficiate the problem when the screen protector was applied. Could it be that it lifted the screen while taking it off creating the liquid to rise. Could we possibly see a picture?

The tape trick seemed to work. It looks flawless now. Maybe the first time I applied the protector it was somehow putting pressure on the screen which caused this. I'll see what happends in a couple of days with this new one.

Guess what? This morning I took a look and it came back. So the protector must be doing this. I tried taking a picture but its very difficult to capture it. It looks just like the picture from the thread I posted before (see image below). I'll use it for a couple days and see if it blends out as hellbringer626 said.

that is called a moire pattern and it is caused by applying a light pressure to one spot for a while. It could be your case causing it. I don't think anyone has been able to link it to a screen protector. Try leaving it out of your case for a day or so and see if it disapears. It shouldn't be a problem and usually is only visible in certain lights or angles. do a search for moire on this site and you will find a lot of this reported

I have a Sena case but I haven't used it yet. My Axim is just sitting on the desk or is docked in the cradle. I haven't even taking it out with me anywhere yet.

I don't remember anyone saying that their screen protector caused it but I guess it could. maybe try another protector and see if it does it. is it something that you only see under certain lighting conditions, only when off, etc? it should go away over time. but if it is always there and you see it all the time you could try to get it replaced.

I am using my 3rd x51V now and only noticed this on the 2nd unit. Under certain angle i 'll see the "oil" but it tends to go away after the PDA gets wramed up. (after play a short game, etc) I never bothered me much since I won't see it while the PDA is in use. However, I've never noticed this on my 1st and current unit, regardless the unit being warm or cold.

Have you been using a screen protector for all 3 units and if so what brand?

none of them had screen protector on it and I don't think this should matter at all.

The oil is below the lcd screen and if any pressure should cause this problem then i don't think screen protector should make any difference.

I tend to agree with you. The screen protector should not be causing this problem. you just might have a bad unit. but again, is it bad all the time or just in certain lights and angles? you have to factor in the replacement unit and what it will take to get you back up and running. If you have warranty on it and it is more than 21 days old you will get a refurb unit. not that that is bad but some people don't like the idea. then you ahve to figure in the work of getting it all set up again. just something to think about.
