This is an old thread but it seemed relevant.
I've had my Axim X51v for a while but never made good use of it (still not). I've also had my Slingbox Classic for a long time and get use of it on my PC.
Today I finally downloaded Slingplayer Mobile to my Axim and installed it. I'm disappointed and probably won't spring for $30 for it.
In portrait mode, the picture is pretty small but sharp. In landscape (full-screen) mode the picture fills the screen nicely but seems to slow to a crawl. Is that because the Axim is slow when dealing with the rotated image? I can't think of any other reason.
I toggled between TCM and AMC, the former had a widescreen movie so even in portrait mode it was pretty small. I can't expect the Axim to do anything about that. AMC was letterboxed, as always :(, and the picture filled the screen. Slingplayer didn't seem to show stats in landscape mode but it was close to 30fps in portrait and much jumpier in landscape. This test was on my LAN so I was getting whatever speed was available (Slingplayer Mobile seems to max out at 600 Kbps where regular Slingplayer goes much higher -- typically 2000 Kbps on my LAN.
The other problem was battery, with the screen lit up continuously and the WiFi radio going continuously, I got the warning about turning off the radio pretty quickly (maybe it was an hour, probably longer than it felt). I plugged it in to the AC adapter again and could continue watching but it was more awkward.
Any suggestions on making it better, or confirmation this is as good as it gets, most welcome.
Thanks!
