X51V very slow to start up

Whenever I wake my X51v up from sleep-mode, it takes about 15-20 seconds before it will let me enter my password. If it has been short enough not to need the password, then it still lags by about 10-15 seconds or so.

Anyone seen this before, or know what's going on?

I'm hoping there's just something I can disable to fix it, since it's really irritating to have to wait 10x longer than when waking up my laptop.

Thanks.

Similar problem

Im having a similar problem. My axim (x51v) comes out of sleep mode quickly but when I put my password in (simple 4 digit) the last number always sticks, and stays highlighted. It takes about 10 seconds after I hit the last key before I can use my axim.

Is your Odyssey network tool turned on? Or recent on? That can be the culprit.

Disable it (and for good measure, try a soft boot) and then see if the problem continues. A simple test to eliminate one possiblity.

This is a regular issue on these forums & you should do a search on slow start up times. I too had this issue, turns out thanks to another aximsite member it was a problem with my today plugins. Remove them all then try a soft reset & see if that helps. Note that entering a password logon screen does eat into the slow start up times.

Then once you notice a speed improvement in startup slowly add each plug in one by one resettign each time to see which is the culprit. Mine turned out to be an alarm feature not designed for WM5.

I still ocassionaly get the blinking blue led (ie BT flash) which stops my password being accepted. I was at my wits end with the system & at 1 point SHOUTED my disatisfaction on these pages! Throwing it in the trash may have been better.

Then I was given the axim members wisdom & now - bar a few minor issues - start up times have improved & I am very happy with the unit. Don't want to go back to my old X30H!!!

So try the today plugins, remove the password chk & then do a reset & see what speeds you get then add the other items slowly. Hope some of that info helps

Gosh, 10 seconds? A fast 2.1 Gig processor on a home PC takes a couple seconds to come out of hibernate mode. With everything shut down using InCLose, from standby it takes only 2-3 seconds to come on and another second or two to take input, and another second or two for bluetooth to kick on. 6-7 even 10 seconds isn't bad from the standby/hibernate. It is faster if there aren't applications running. Using switcher bar, or some other program, or start/system/memory/running programs to shut down applications before standby speeds up the restart.

10 seconds

You are right about 10 seconds not being alot of time.
But when my previous ppc's never took that long 10 seconds seems like an eternity especially while trying to look something up in a hurry. Just feels like something is wrong when it takes that long.
Also, when the last number "sticks" it stays highlighted. Which sucks cause if anyone sees this then they will know the last number of my password.

Anyways, this x51v has been more than I bargianed for. Shouldve purchased a x50v.

Thanks for the help.
