Did I get a bad X51v? Return or keep?

Hi guys:

I'm starting to wonder if the x51v I got last week is a lemon and if I should exchange it. I'm still within the Dell exchange/return period.

These are my symptoms.

1. Locks up at completely random times forcing a soft reset. I've done this probably 100 times in a week.

2. Syncs at random and sometimes not at all. When I cradle the Axim it sometimes is immediately recognized and goes to autosync. Other times the Axim is recognized by my computer (I get the beep that my USB port is active) but no connection is made and no sync happens. Still other times when I cradle the Axim nothing happens at all. My computer doesn't even know something new is plugged into the USB port.

3. Sometimes the wireless adaptor will not turn on. Sometimes it will not turn off.

4. When I set up a dial-up modem connection with my bluetooth cellular phone the Axim keeps wanting to launch that connection even when I don't want to. It keeps breaking into whatever I'm doing with a window asking me to launch the dialer.

All in all, it's been a very frustrating experience working with this machine and I've about had it. What I don't know is whether (1) I have a lemon Axim, (2) I've just messed it up with the software I've installed, or (3) They are all like this and I just have to suck it up.

Oh, and some more background.

I have done the fake server trick and have the following software installed on the Axim.

1. Mapopolis running on the SD card
2. Mortplayer running on main memory
3. Pocket breeze, iLauncher and Pocket Weather running on main memory

That's all I've done to it so far.

Weird symptoms. Try Hardresetting and installing the software again, and doing the fake server trick.

If the problems return, return your Axim for a new one.

Well, I can't say I've tried those programs, but I have found that all that kinda stuff slows my machine down and causes bad results. Freaky lockups, slow menus, and other stuff. I'm only using Vbar now. It doesn't seem to hurt anything. I'd kill all these "TSR's" and try your machine without all those Start-up programs.

If nothing else works, get a fresh copy of the VGA A06 Rom Upgrade and install that with a hard reset. Then don't install a bunch of start-up stuff. If that don't work return it.

Just my 2 cents.....
