i wished they had included a mini-usb port on the side or perphaps a mini-firewire port or something........
Yep!, that is included in my design, take a look.
Sorry for the quality, I just did it so fast using Paint.
As you can see, hands-free function is supposing people working on bluetooth stack are going to success (good luck guys!:approve: ).
It also assumes I am going to success with my tests next week on external USB touchscreen.
There is still one problem about hands-free, if we want to keek PDA hidden, what to do with microphone?, any idea?
Any suggestion about car setup?
Does anybody know where to find a cable like that one I show in my previous post?
That is a cable with VGA, USB, Serial RS-232 and power.
I would prefer buying it rather than building it, I am so lazy.
Besides that, the only place I found to buy the connector is out of stock.

Why not use a bluetooth headset? Either that or I believe the headphone jack has the capability of using a headset & thus has a microphone input in it, if I remember correctly. If that is the case, a microphone input can be wired in easilly enough.

Please, how to know that for sure!!!!!!!!??????????????
User manual says nothing about that.
I do not have a headset + microphone to test it. Does anyone have try it?
It is supposed to have a coax jack with three rings, I just tryed to take an imaginative look insaid the X51V hole and it seemed to me it could to be three connections but I cannot be sure.
Please, anyone experienced with a wired headset + microphone?
Is microphone functional?

I changed my car design in my post at the top of this page. I have added an external mic to be placed close of driver head.
Remember it is only useful it people working on bluetooth stack success and we could have PDA acting itself as cell phone hands-free.
Please, can anybody tell me if that functionality is currently possible with WM 2003 (embebbed Broadcom bluetooth stack) ?
Thank you.
TFT TOUCHSCREEN USB WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:icon_band
Finally I could not test any touchscreen before buying mine because all what I found was serial. So I decided to buy my in-dash 7" TFT touchcreen USB at my risk.
I got it today and, as I was afraid, It did not work because it needs special driver but...
As soon as I have everything installed in my car I will do a more complete video showing X51V as carputer (navigator, music, video, cell phone interface, diagnostics and general purpose computer).
Remarks:
USB_client + Power + RS232 + VGA adaptor shown is self made starting from VGA adapator sold by Dell. If you do not have a micro-soldering station do not attempt to build it!!!.
Connector has a couple of straps because I am still opening and closing it because I am still fighting to connect serial port to my OBD-II car diagnostics output.
Video II: USB touchscreen
USB_client + Power + RS232 + VGA adaptor shown is self made starting from VGA adapator sold by Dell. If you do not have a micro-soldering station do not attempt to build it!!!.
Please, could you drop the scheme of that adapter - I am goilng to solider one.
Remember the connector is too small to work on it. I started from an already made VGA adaptor so that I just added RS232 and USB lines. Besides that I took the adaptor to a friend that has microsoldering station, ... and very good hands! :)
you are doing a GREAT job!! keep up the great work! especilly since you are a new member most of the time it is the vetrins who post things like this.. but anyway keep up the great work and i look foward to seeing more on this project!
