Quick question: On the Today screen there is the little "lock" icon and description: Device Unlocked. If you click it, it says Device Locked. However, there is an Unlock soft key and all you do is click the Unlock key and then it says to unlock device, click Unlock. Come on...what's up with this? I mean what's the purpose? Just doesn't seem to be very functional...???

I have asked myself the very same question, for the very same reasons.
Since it doesn't require me to key in my password to unlock, I thought ... "Whats the point of this?!" (after all, when I sync, the activesync application constantly requires me to key in my password - even after I checked the 'save password' checkbox.. it always makes me type it again

)
My guess is this. The simple lock, provides a way to effectively disable the touch screen, so you can carry it around and things bumping the screen will not activate a feature.
