Question Device Locked or Unlocked?

Greetings!

Quick question: On the Today screen there is the little "lock" icon and description: Device Unlocked. If you click it, it says Device Locked. However, there is an Unlock soft key and all you do is click the Unlock key and then it says to unlock device, click Unlock. Come on...what's up with this? I mean what's the purpose? Just doesn't seem to be very functional...???

Thanks & God Bless!

Do you own a cell phone? You know on mine there are two different kind of locks. Keypad lock and Phone lock. The phone lock is helpful if I am worried about other people using it that I don't want. It is similar to the lock switch. Then there is a keypad lock. The keypad lock is really fast to unlock, but convenient when in my pocket. It's kinda like the lock button. I know that it seems quite pointless, but I'm sure it is actually intended for smartphones or Pocket PC phone.

I have asked myself the very same question, for the very same reasons.

Since it doesn't require me to key in my password to unlock, I thought ... "Whats the point of this?!" (after all, when I sync, the activesync application constantly requires me to key in my password - even after I checked the 'save password' checkbox.. it always makes me type it again )

My guess is this. The simple lock, provides a way to effectively disable the touch screen, so you can carry it around and things bumping the screen will not activate a feature.

Yes, it disables the screen and buttons depending on how you set the options. Handy in pockets and easily unlocked. But it pretty much does what the lock switch on the side does. More useful on a phone model, think it is just a left over with the ax.
