Importing reg file into registry

I am using Total Commander and trying to import a file named services.reg into the registry. Here is the process I am following:

From within TC
Selected the services.reg file on my CF card
Selected Copy/Move from within TC
Path: \\registry
Select Copy
Select Overwrite
I then receive an error - Cannot copy of move file!

I have tried multiple different ways to import this key into the registry with no luck. I have done a lot of seaching on editing the registry but have come up with surprisingly little good information. It seems most posts are on the best editor or the replies recommend using Tweaks2k2.

Is there an editing mode or something I have to change in TC before I can do this? How frustrating, on a PC this would have taken me 2 seconds.

If anyone has any good links that show how to edit and modify the registry.

try Resco Explorer. with resco, you can just click on the .reg file and it updates it automatically. You need Registry editor addin to be installed. Try the free trial.

Total Commander can't import reg files (option is there, but greyed out).

Resco Registry can import, and I think PHM Registry Editor can import as well.
