x50v hangs at startup; no luck w/ hard reset

Hi,

My dad has an x50V and it keeps freezing on the startup screen. He is running WM5. The progress bar gets stuck whent it's about 95% of the way done. I tried hard resetting without any luck. I took the battery out for a few minutes and put it back in but still no luck. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks.

Yeah, I know. I was actually about to reinstall WM2003 for him but now the freaking thing won't startup. Is there anything I can do to try and get my x50v to boot?

Yea, leave the bat out an hour. Capacitors can hold a charge for a long time.

I have no idea what you're referring to, care to explain further? It's my dad's PDA so I am not all that familiar with it. What's the keylock?

Leave it switched on in the cradle overnight. By morning you should have the welcome screen.

LOL, I'm not sure if you're serious but I'll give it a try. Is there anyway to reflash this thing even though it won't boot up fully or is it brain-dead?

Check out the sticky "TUTORIAL: The long awaited solution on how to use the SD Image Loader for flashing ". I think this is the ONLY possible way to save your dad's Axim. There have been tons of reports about this and almost everyone end up with a replacement from Dell. Some of them did try to leave their PDA on overnight, but from what I read so far, the axim is still "stuck" in the morning. BTW, Take the battery out won't really help since the device is running WM5.

There's switch located at the top left side of the pda. If the switch is in up position, it is locked (You will see red marking at the bottom of the switch). When the switch is in down position, it is unlocked. Make sure the switch is in down position.
Now try soft resetting or hard resetting and see if that helps.
