"Official" statement from Dell-"patch for WM5 upgrade will never be released"

Chat with Hardware support goes something like this:

Dell- there would be no update released for this issue.
Me- NO update?
Dell- I am afraid but yes.
Me- So you're telling me that Dell has TOTALLY abandoned support for the $500 device and leave the customer with LOADS of problems?
Dell- as I have mentioned, the only solution is to get back to the Pocket PC 2003 SE and use the same.
Dell- I understand your concern and you have my apologies but I am unable to provide you the update that you are looking for, since it will not be released.
Dell- I understand that the promises made to you are not fulfilled and you can duly express them by getting in touch with the Customer Care department.

Well, that's why I put quotes around official.

Sorry if I offended anyone with ANOTHER thread of these kind, but I just want to provide some update.

Hey Patrick Y., I for one appreciate ANY news about a patch. be it "official" or not.

You will notice that the guys bitch'in at you never provide anything worthwhile.

Incorrect, just tired of yet another thread saying the same exact thing.....NOTHING. Nothing you get from chat with Dell tech support can be taken at face value. Anyone that thinks otherwise is either extremely new to this or extremely naive.

I do provide items of worth when I have something of worth to provide. Anything on this topic is nothing but rumour and innuendo.

I agree 100% with your evaluation of Dell's Customer Support. However, instead of bad-mouthing someone TRYING to provide news you should use that effort to providing something newsworthy.

Excuese me, but I made no statement about the person starting this thread....just about the thread itself. If I had something newsworthy I'd post it. I would certainly NOT post anything I was told by Dell Tech Support as I personally don't try to spread rumour and innuendo.

....or how about this: If you read what you believe to be redundant information, don't waste your time badmouthing other folks about it and then spending a lot more of your time justifying your original concerns.

It's not the end of the world if a post is duplicated by two different peopleI have posted information and was told it was "old news".Not everyone reads every single post and old news may be new to some.I appreciate the fact that someone takes the time to post any information that may be helpful. As for what a Dell tech support person says let each person decide whether he or she choses to believe that information.

You know, if this had been the 2nd, or even the 10th such post I'd never have said a word. The fact is, every couple days another thread just like this "Dell tech said...." comes out. There are probably over 50 such threads now, wasting bandwidth and time, when everyone looks to see if "maybe" someone with some credibility has been quoted. I merely said what probably 1000 people are thinking, if you have a problem with it, too bad, flame away...I'm a big boy and I can take it.
