'ok' button no workie in 'Configure Wireless Network'

I just got my Axim on Friday, and I can't put it down :)

I've had a few issues with Beta Opera software and had to do a few soft resets, I'd still rather use it than PocketIE. I'm not too happy with the wireless configuration software. First of all it doesn't seem to maintain settings too long, I hate getting prompted to re-enter my 26 digit wireless password a couple times a day :(

This morning I've been trying to get a wireless-adhoc running so I can share my ThinkPad's LAN internet connection at work. I haven't succeeded yet, primarily because the Configure Wireless Network screen has a dud 'OK' button in the top corner, I can't close the screen and apply my settings, the only work around is a soft reset, after which the issue seems to come back after the first couple edits in my wireless settings.

I'm getting tired of soft resets and entering my key's over and over, can someone recommend a stable/better piece of software to control wireless?

Then maybe I'll be able to setup this adHoc network and forget about it for a while, it's the last config thing I need to get resolved.

Otherwise it's great!

Neil

If you are using Magic Button that is why the OK button doesn't work. Hit the return on the keyboard instead or map a button for 'OK'. either one will do the trick. Also someone said if you hit the very corner of the screen by the OK button it will work but I haven't tried that one. or turn off MB before using the WLAN.

thanks for the input bigDave

ok, turning off or uninstalling vBar seems to work to fix the 'OK' button, now to try and get my network running.

I have setup internet sharing on my LAN connection, I have established adHoc, I can ping back and forth, just can't browse the internet just yet.

This problem only occurs if Magic Button is showing the taskbar when you run the wifi applet. The taskbar shows icons for what programs are running and shows the magic button house icon.

The easiest workaround for this is while you are in the today screen, tap once (not tap and hold) on the upper-right corner area to hide the Magic Button taskbar. And then use the wifi applet. Magic Button is still running and functions as expected in closing your applications, but it's just not showing the taskbar.

After you're done with the wifi app, IF you want to see the taskbar again, just tap the corner again. You can also configure magic button to hide the taskbar on startup.

If you forget to hide the taskbar before running the wifiapp, you can, as mentioned in another post above, tap the extreme upper-right corner.
