X51V and CDB Files

I have just upgraded from an X50V to an X51V - and very much beginning to wish I hadn't, or at least not just yet. I have a MS Access mdb file which I used to copy down to the X50V via active sync which converted it to the necessary cdb format so it could be read by sprintdb. Now I find that that piece of functionality is missing from Active Sync 4.1 which is needed for WM5. Are there are workarounds until/if MS brings out the patch that was originally due in January - such as 3rd party conversion tools. My shiny new X51V is very much in danger of becoming box ware if I can't find a way to get the database converted. Copying the MDB file over Activ Sync tries to do a conversion which fails - even though WM5 is reportedly able to run native mdbs ?

Any hints / tips - other than the one MS gives which is to run SQL Server CE.

Many thanks

Sue

Found one workaround - keep the X50V purely for file conversion onto an SD or CF. Moves the card over to the X51V and copy the file off.

I am in the same boat as you. I have a X5 w/2003 and my X51v. The X51v doesn't do CDB. I had used my X5 previously as billing system for my consulting work. I had a number of other things in db's using SprintPro. I have contacted Kaione twice regarding this. First time was early January in which they stated that they were still waiting for some development software from Microsoft and hoped to have a product come the middle or late January.

I just e-mailed them again last week and got the following response:

Hello,

The current version of SprintDB Pro(ver 2.5a) is not fully compatible with WM5.0.
We are currently working with ver 3.0, and Ver 3.0 will be fully compatible with WM5.0.
SprintDB Pro version 3.0 also enable to do access sync with WM5.0.
We will release ver 3.0 before middle of April.
We cordially ask your understanding and please be more patient.

I just downloaded all relevant SQL Server software from Microsoft and may look into that to see what the learning curve will be. I have quite a few databases already developed so I really wish Kaione was truly going to deliver a product and soon. While I do have a few work arounds at my disposal, I have been without it for four months due to it being tedious.

SprintDB Pro v3.0 was released yesterday with full WM5 compatibility. You guys that have SprintDB Pro should have received an email with upgrade instructions.

See This and This for more details.
