I got everything working fine on my Axim X50v running WM5 - radio turns on, etc. However, I could not get my Thinkoutside keyboard paired to it, and although I was able to pair it to my computer, I could not get the BT activesync to work. I tried many different work around methods, but to no avail.

Confirmed BtCeDrivers.dll working. It seems BtCeIf.dll has been replaced by this one in hx4700.

I've managed to run 1.7.1.34 with almost original 4700 registry and all the Dlls from 4700 unmodified. The only from ACER 311 is BTTray.exe because the "expired" error.

How did you solve the hp certificate issue? I used my "magic" ActivateBTDrivers app again to load the drivers after device start.

I simply looked after the correct dertificate registry entry in the original 4700 registry and copied to the X51.
This is the registry I'm actually using. To install it is important to delete previously the full HKLM\Software\Widcomm
It includes the HP certificate, the Widcomm Key and all the entries under Drivers BuiltIn. I've to add some keys more, but this works OK.

No, nothing is fixed. Simply is a more homogeneous platform, with all the files of the same version, with the original signing, supporting WM5 and VGA devices, and all the profiles but audio ones (I haven't tested A2DP. Does someone have stereo headphones for testing it?)
Now we can try to fix the pending issues with more chances.

Congratulations on all the work so far. I am willing to help test this but just need a little clarification on what I can expect to work if I install as per your instructions.
Currently I can use GPRS Internet through NOkia 6630, one way file transfer.

New question
Any clue about what's the purpose of these files?
ACX100_dl.bin
maxim_radio_dl.bin
rfmd_radio_dl.bin
Maybe some kind of initialization stuff for radio chips?

I have a set of Plantronics Pulsar 590A stereo BT headphones that work with my PC BT dongle. I've used the Plantronics supplied TX to send audio from my Axim to the headphones but it's external and doesn't support AVRCP (how could it - it only connects via the headphone jack).
I might be willing to give it a try if I can get a SOLID recommendation on a backup suite to use so that I can restore my Axim to its current state. I use it for work so I need it to remain reliable. Beta testing this stack has been held off because of this.
There are too many different opinions on which backup software is best - I don't care about glitzy features - all I want is the 'iron-clad guarantee' that I can restore my Ax to its current state.

MikelSpikel:
I've dissasempled the BTSs files and can assure that none of them does a speed change on the UART.
I have one that does, and I've compiled one that only does that, but none works.
The problem could be in the UART (we have to wait for the new file) or in other initilalitation process.
I'll try to send a command from a c program directly to COM5 and wait for the response at different speed to investigate it.
