As I notice, after a soft reset before BT activated and after, there are about 2.3MB to 3MB taken away. Even after de-activate BT, the memory seems to stay the same. However I discover this free utility from Oxyos, just make a shortcut and launch it (the Hibernate one), it reclaims back this amount of RAM/ROM.
Beemer and Mikelspikel! Please confirm?
Solsie, does this utility free up the memory that something like memmaid or sktools frees up or is it different.

Same behavior in my device, but is this memory being used by widcomm? You mean you have 2.3 to 3MB less after installing widcomm? I haven't even compared free memory before and after the stack change.

I am talking about already having Widcomm stack installed. The fact that I soft reset with BT off and turn BT on. The memory difference is about 2.5 to 3MB. Turning BT back off after it was on does not release the memory.
DeeCee2. I tried with MemMaid RAM release (which did not release) and just after I launch this Hibernate utility, the later releases the memory.

I'm a newbie but I read all posts in this thread and installed 0.50 version on my x51. No problem connecting my BT-359 GPS receiver and iGudiance is able to read GPS data.
The Bt-359 is designed to give GPS data every second. I could see the iGuidance GPSInfo screen updated with new data every second... except occassionally the update paused for 8 seconds and the 8 seconds of data is updated on the screen in the coming 1 or 2 seconds. I checked the BT connection status and the received bytes also has this symptom. The bytes incremented every second but randomly paused for about 8 seconds and then incremented 8 times amount of bytes at once. To me it looked like either the Widcomm stack has problem streaming data or the serial port has problem forwarding data to application. I tried SpeedSwitcher to the lower speed and it seems help reducing the frequency of the problem.
Anyone know why this happen and a solution to this problem. It is very serious for me to lose GPS update for 8 seconds when driving. I love the Widcomm stack but this is a very serious issue for me. :exc:
Been using 0.5 on A12 for 2 weeks now and no problems whatsoever.
HOwever, I use a Mac and have been told that Missing sync works better using serial USB connection.
I tried thePC USB switch under settings - connections but it only works with the MS stack.
So I remeved Widvomm using "Remove programs". USB syncing went well, but now I cannot connect to my phone. It comes up, pairs, but refuses t even connect when trying to dial internet.
Re-install widcomm or run back-up and I get BT back, but I can't use USB switch. Has anyone else had issue uninstalling WIdcomm hack?
From what I've read from Dell GPS System users having trouble with Widcomm stack, I think the problem is Dell software lacks an option to change the GPS COM port and Widcomm and MS use different settings. It seems Dell soft automatically sets the GPS configuration under Settings/System/GPS to use COM7 as HW port. Some users have reported they have been able to use the soft if this HW port is changed to COM8 after the Dell soft has been started. Well, I don't own a version of Dell software to test, but I think it should work if we swap the incoming and outgoing ports of GPS in Widcomm. This is quite easy to do so maybe someone can test.
How to swap ports in Widcomm:
1. Delete the GPS shortcut in BT Manager.
2. Close BT Manager and turn BT off.
3. Open registry with Resco Registry Editor or your favorite tool and make the following changes (no need of soft reset after them):
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Applications\0001]
Change ComPortNumber from 8 to 7
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0001]
Change ComPortNumber from 7 to 8
4. Re-pair your GPS from BT Manager
Once done, you can check the new configuration in BT Settings\Services\Serial Port\Advanced. You should have Inbound=8 and Outbound=7. Before the change they were Inbound=7 and Outbound=8.
As I've said before, I can't test this myself, but I believe it should work. Anyone can test?

Hi, Mikel and Lumsdoni
I think that we have other similar problem: with the ROM A12, or A04 in other languages, when deactivating the "UPS to PC" option (in control panel, third tab) I got an error "Error deactivating RNDIS" only if Widcomm stack is installed.
Is not a great problem because there is no reason to do that, because RNDIS active sync connection system is better that the old WM2003 PPP serial system.
I think the issue is that PPP tries to use COM8 because it think must be free because Microsoft stack uses COM6 and COM7 but we are using COM7 and COM8.
If anybody has this problem (Lumsdoni for example) the solution could be (not tested)
1. Close BT Manager and turn BT off.
2. Open registry with Resco Registry Editor or your favorite tool and make the following changes (no need of soft reset after them):
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Applications\0001]
Change ComPortNumber from 8 to 7
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0001]
Change ComPortNumber from 7 to 6
[HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial8]
rename to [HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial6] and change these subkeys acordingly
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth Serial Port COM6:"
"Dll"="btcedrivers.dll"
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000006
This will also solve the problem with the GPS Mikelspikel have just commented.
Unfortunately, it didn't make a difference, still failed to disable RNDIS. I know it is better, but when syncing with a mac, RNDIS is about 10 times slower than serial which is why I want it.
Ho hum.
The other concern is that the uninstall package doesn't seem to work on Widcomm, as it left me completely unable to connect to my phone, even after pairing and setting up the connections.
All i ever got was "failed to connect, check your phone is on etc"
Beemer's tweak about USB to PC confirmed working here. Lumsdoni, as this time we have changed the COM number of a device driver, soft reset is needed. Remember to suspend the Axim for some seconds before the soft reset.

OK, thanks
So I need to
1. Back up the Ax!
2. Turn BT manager off.
3. Make the Reg changes.
4. Suspend the Ax (HOw do I do this?)
5. wait
6. Soft Reset.
7. Change USB connection.
8. Enjoy life?
Couple of things.
[HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial8]
rename to [HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial6] and change these subkeys acordingly
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth Serial Port COM6:"
"Dll"="btcedrivers.dll" - This was already the file!
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000006 - I nResco I have dword box and just the number in it, do I just put "6"?

By "suspend" I mean to turn off Axim like normally :) . The two other questions, it's OK the Dll is btcedrivers.dll. You don't need to change that. To change the number in DeviceArrayIndex, do what you say.
Let us know if it works. It did for me.

Hmm, having to hard reset and re-install back-up as I got halfway through reg edits then noticed I already had a Serial6 key, which was empty, but it would not allow me to delete it.
If I renamed it, I got a copy with a new name and the original.
Becuase of this I was unable to rename serial8 to serial6. Am using Resco Registry plug-in.
EDIT
RESET.
serial6 has now gone, so I applied the changes as directed. I am now left with an empty serial8 regkey that I cannot delete - is this normal?
Did a full power off via the power button, and a soft reset using the hole on the back of the axim.
I'm in the process of getting my x51v set up in the car as my MP3 player/GPS.
Here's the plan:
160 gig wireless hard drive (ASUS WL-HDD) for music/video (tested at home...it works, have not tried it in the car yet)
SCOSCHE Bluetooth A2DP adaptor for audio. (sotra works in the car)
DELL GPS (works in the car).
here's the miscelaneous software I got on the PDA
TomTom GPS
Resco Explorer
Pockemind PocketMusic
BT stack 0.5
So...I installed the BT stack, and here's what I got so far:
No problem pairing with GPS and SCOSCHE audio gateway. I can have both GPS and MP3's (off the CF card) playing at the same time. (I've actually been able to also pair it to my laptop, the Motorola headset that came with my RAZR, and several other devices).
The problem is, when I crank down the bitrate selector, I get some crackling/digital noise...like dropouts. I'm not sure yet if maybe I set the amp level on the bluetooth adaptor too high and I'm just getting distortion, or if this is noise from too many drop-outs, but I'm pretty good with audio applications and I don't think its a problem with the signal being too hot. At the higher bitrate I STILL get some crackling, but it seems to be better (of course it quits after 10 minutes). I don't seem to have the same problem when playing BT audio when playing music from my BT-enabled laptop. This crackling happens even if I disable the GPS connection and just play music.
I think part of the problem may be that the volume control on the PDA stops working when in A2DP mode, and it may be pegged at 100%. Maybe distortion would go away if the "output volume" could be adjusted? The volume control DOES work on my laptop.
Well, its either that or the PDA just doesn't have the processing power to play quality audio over bluetooth, and that's why Dell disabled it to keep people from getting pissed off.

I tried your suggestion. It did switch the inbound and outbound ports but it didn't help the GPS to connect.
I'm trying to get my x50v WM2003se to work with stereo BT headphones, and don't have time to read 43 pages of posts. Would someone please have pity on me and tell me what I'm missing?
I installed the Broadcom BT stack and the speed switcher, did a soft reset and get this message...
'BTTrayCE' is not a valid Pocket PC application.
Which means there is no BT icon in the sys tray. How do I turn on BT and pair with my headphones?
