Widcomm for Axim x50v and x51v. State of the development

Well, me for one. I use it as a portable media player, and that's about it.

My laptop has a 17 inch monitor, and a dual core athlon 64 4800+, so the Axim can't come close for getting work done. On the other hand, you can't beat the Axim for portability (the iPod nano doesn't count, because it's an overpriced piece of crap).

Disagree ...I've had many MP3 players over the years and I love my 4gig Nano for music. I would hardly call it crap ....try convincing the shareholders of that. Do you even own one? I have come to find iPod is the new Bose, people love to bash even when they have never used, owned the product.

Whats the plus side of having an IPOD? Really what? Can you surf the internet on your ipod, with your little click wheel, and non replaceble battery? How about email? PIM? And I'm sorry your screen is what 1.25 "????? I'm not saying the axims is really big but, but the more the better. Plus lucky you, we have the same sound chip.... Why would I pay more for something less? Who knows eventually we x51v users might be able to use wireless headphones, (wakes up from dream) with out a dongle. So what do ipods do that axim can't?

I took the registry from another version of the widcomm driver (1.5 i think) and deleted and modified some stuff. I now get the little headphones on the start bar of my axim, and can control when i get to hear the nice helicopter noise. Problem is, still helicopter noise, nothing else.

I need the help of owners of :

What I need is that you download the attached testing program and run it from the PDA with Bluetooth off.

The program dows not change anything on your PDA neither your registry. It only tries to connect to your Bluetooth UART and test its capabilities. Then when tapped, it exists and leaves a small text file under \Temp that I need as test result along with the PDA model and OS Version.

Seems that the max speed parameter doesn't true. That's important. And also seems that the X50 chip is capable of working at every speed.

Now it would be useful to have a test od an X50 WM5 (same chip) with Mi crosoft and widdcom stacks and an X51 with Microsoft stack.

x51v just after hard reset:

Only responding at 115200 and 9600. Max speed 131072. Configurable speed: 268861433.

No difference between MS and widcomm stacks, right?

Awaiting x50v with WM5 test. Could be interesting. I bet: 115200 and 9600 only.

One curious thing is that 9600:
I double the speed in the program, set the uart and read the speed in the uart and then print it. Well, this works Ok on every standard speed (9600,14400,28800,57600,115200,230400, 460800 and 921600), but when I try a non-standard speed (ie 115201) it reverts to 9600.

But this 9600 works and the 9600 inserted directly in the UART doesn't.
