After reading through this thread, I still don't know what Widcomm is for. Is it a replacement for the BT driver in the x51v?
Yes. Short form - it's a lot more versatile and has more profiles than the MS BT stack included in the x51v. Up until ROM A12, it was the only way to get A2DP working, and the BT wizard's easier to use... but it wasn't included. This is a way to get it working, as it installs the drivers for the Broadcomm/Widcomm stack.
I managed to insall the Widcomm Stack. Mostly everything is working well. However, i have a moto v3c. Yes its verizon, and yes i flashed the UI to altell, so i have excelent BT capabilities. Before today, connecting DUN was a breeze. Now with this widcomm, i cant seem to do it. It keeps trying to set it up, but then i end up at OBEX???? I already had an OBEX folder set up and now i have 2. If its not possible to do this, then i might have to revert back, but something tells me I'm missing something..........seeing on the first post of this it claims it works, and others claimed it works???
EDIT: I loked in the "service selection" and it tells me the only services i have are OBEX file transfers??? I know thats untrue!
2nd EDIT: When i tried to discover the services of the V3C with my laptop, it too told me i could only do OBEX. I then realized i had not turned my phone off in 5 months, so i reboot it up, and sure enough, that was the only problem!!!
Is it possible to put a shortcut in iLauncher to connect to a bluetooth headset instead of having to go through bluetooth manger then to my shortcuts then holding down on the icon and pressing connect?
OK, I was doing fine with the MS stack re syncing, gps, etc., but decided to try the Widcom. The result: AS worked; the gps receiver paired but the Axim could not receive data: although I could transfer files via AS/explore, I could not beam; then the ax froze solid; could not power off or soft reset even with the buttons. I had to do a hard reset and a restore from backup to get running again.
I also had some problems with the upgrade. Before i could connect my mouse/Dell keyboard with no problem. Now they connect but they have to be rediscovered everytime I turn n the PDA. I love how the upgrade did allow me to BT sync with my lappy though.. Please help guys.

As those using A2DP know, it seems this profile wasn't working very stable when the speed of the communication between the Xscale and the BT chip was set to the maximum bit rate of 921600. The solution we found was decreasing the BT speed to 460800 and I developed a small tool to perform this change (BT Speed Switcher).
I've found a new solution that works at least with my X51v and i.Tech S38: I've set
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\SerialTransport]
FlowControl=0
After this change, I can set the BT speed back to 921600bps using the Speed Switcher and the A2DP no longer hangs. I've been using this new configuration for over a week now and I haven't had a single problem. I don't know if this could have any collateral effect but I haven't found any. Everything seems to work OK (now at 921600bps :) ). Can anybody confirm this?
