Automatically turn on when power is applied?

Hi All,

I'm really hoping that someone can help me out here.

I've got an X51v that I would like to have automatically turn on when power is applied. It's currently running without a battery so it powers off when power is removed. I would like it to power back on automatically when power is turned back on.

Is this possible? Any help is greatly appreciated!

strange way of running a device (without battery) :rolling: :rolling:

so .... what's preventing you from giving that "POWER BUTTON" a push once you've plugged the power in ???
I shudder at the thought of potential damage when a person is trying to run a device this way .. but ..to each his own, I guess !!!

gosh !! every plug in would be a soft reset ... the abusing thing we do to our toys !!!

Maybe he has it hidden in the glovebox or trunk. Not totally an obscure idea. There are some GPS bluetooth receivers that automatically turn on when power is applied (car engine turned on), so you can keep it connected and hidden anywhere inside the car.

I am aware of the device + GPS "auto on" combination :)

I was more puzzled of the "no battery" method ... when there is no constant source of juice ... everytime he hook up would be a soft reset ... think of the cycles that he put the thing through ... poor toy !

seem to be asking for a "fried" device if ya ask me :rolling:

I don't know of a software solution but an idea might be to short
the active sync pin which will trigger the unit to wake up. Another
idea might be to use the cf/sd trigger method which will also wake
up the device.

The only problem I see with the above solutions is that I don't know
if they will work from a complete power off state. Since at that point
the os is not even booted.

If you are willing to go a hardware route like I am suggesting I'm sure
someone here could add some more light on what needs to be done.
