help sending from comcast pop3

Help! I just got my axim x51v and I am trying to set up everything. I really want to be able to access my email and send email using wifi. I have set up the pop3 stuff on the axim (mail.comcast.net outgoing, smtp. . . for outgoing) and after an extended log on period, I get a message saying that it can't download, check settings. However, the emails do successfully download. I cannot, however, get my outgoing messages sent. They remain in the outgoing box. Even when I sync, still here they are in my outgoing box, not showing at all in my sent items. Please help! This is something I really want to use the axim for!

If you are at a wi-fi hot spot (not at home on your wireless network, connected to comcast) you will probably not be able to send using the same settings as home. Most ISP's will disable remote relaying of e-mail to thwart spammers.

From the beginning:

Enable wireless

Start - messaging - menu (bottom right)

Tools- new account -

enter your comcast email (don't forget its ****@comcast.net)

It may auto set and connect
a screen will come up asking for:

1. Enter your name
2. user name may appear from email...if not enter it with out the @comcast.net
3. enter login password
4. check "save password"

hit "NEXT"

Account type POP3
Name Comcast

hit "NExt"

Incoming mail: mail.comcast.net
outgoing mail: smtp.comcast.net
Domain: (leave empty)

hit "finish"

it should work if you are "switched" to the right account

your accounts can be found at:

Start - messaging - menu (bottom right) - switch accounts - comcast

menu - send/recieve (will check your email)

good luck

digi

PS

It does not matter what wifi access you have, so long as its open for use

I had the same problem with comcast, still can't get regular messenger to work all the time.

Bought www.webis.net Flexmail and have no problem. If you get the trial version let me know, I'll send you screen caps. of the settings.

Icon3 tweaks2k2 is your friend

All your settings are probably just fine. (I went through this too) there's a fix in the tweaks2k2 app that handles this. it has to do with SSL (i think)

did it to mine when I loaded WM5 back in November and it handled it 100% but I've forgotten the details.

hope this helps
paul

Edit: It is "Force SSL off"

i get my comcast mail fine and have NOT done the tweaks2k2 or use any other retriving software.....weird. Maybe i did something i did not know i did. But i do get my comcast mail fine. Maybe it's because I pay the highest rates the comcast has to offer for HDTV, Most Channels, and 8MG download broadband......that they (comcast) thought it would be the one thing would do for me. (I can't wait for competitive cables companies) though i do LOVE their internet speeds and options.

Well I called comcast and told them that I have an AXIM V51X and am in love with it. I asked them what options do they have for my beauty and could I please shovel more of my money to them. They (comcast) said......don't worry digi, we have most of your money already... let us give this one to you for free. I guess they gave me the option of the only working email through comcast on an AX (without additional software or tweaks).

Just joking .....im really tired and just felt like shooting the dung.

I don't have my Axim in front of me so I can't walk through the steps. To send mail try selecting Outgoing Server requires separate settings. Put in just the username, and password, no domain, and Check Secure Socket layer. You should be able to send mail after that.
